2N with Miss Zanatta
Semester 1
A message from Miss Zanatta
We are already half way through the year, 2N should feel very proud of their achievements so far. This semester we have had the opportunity to participate in a variety of events. We have had the Easter Hat Parade, Clean up Australia Day, Harmony Day and buddy reading. It has been great to see everyone get involved in our school activities.
Easter Hat Parade
This years Easter Hat Parade was a success, 2N worked really hard with the help of their buddy class 3B, to create unique and creative Easter hats. The students had heaps of fun parading around in front of the other classes showing off their beautiful hats.
Clean up Australia Day
This semester the whole school participated in Clean up Australia Day. 2N did an amazing job picking up rubbish to make sure our assigned area was clean.
Harmony Day
Harmony Day is a day where we celebrate all the things that make us unique. We celebrated all the different places that we come from by creating a poster with 3B. Students each decorated a hand with the flag of the country they were born in. It was amazing to see all the different places we come from!
Buddy Reading
Once a week 5/6Y come to our classroom for buddy reading, each student in 2N is paired with a student in 5/6Y. For 30 minutes 2N practice reading with their buddy, 2N love getting to work with the big kids.
Mathematics
In Mathematics this semester 2N have been working hard to learn how to use different strategies when adding and subtracting 2-digit numbers. They have been learning how to multiple and divide by sharing groups equally as well as how to skip count forwards and backwards by 2s, 3s and 5s. They have been introduced to time, mass, length and volume and capacity. All students should feel proud all they have achieved in mathematics this semester.
Literacy Centres
Every day students participate in literacy centres, here students are able to choose from a variety of activities. These activities give students the opportunity to reinforce and practice the skills they have already learnt from the week before. During literacy centres students are also given the opportunity to practice reading with myself as well as on their own.
