Picture Day TAKE 2 on Monday!

Big picture

The building opens daily for students at 7:45 am. All students must be out of the building by 3:45 every day unless they are WITH a teacher or coach.

What a great first week!

Thank you to our students, staff, and school community for a great start to the 2021-2022 school year! We are definitely still working through some things and thank you for your patience.

As of today all students who had a completed 2021-2022 Blended Learning 1 to 1 Agreement before Tuesday should have received their district chromebook. Those who completed the form this week should get their chromebook on Monday. PLEASE click the link to complete the agreement so your student can receive their required chromebook. This is just like a textbook and is an expected resource for every student.

Please continue to check transportation information in Infinite Campus. We are struggling through driver shortages (as schools are across the country) and working to update routes through that and through new student enrollment. Routes are likely to change a bit in the next two weeks so please keep an eye on that. Students can stop in to the office any day to check and principals will be stationed in the commons in the afternoons to help look information up as needed. Any changes or additions at this time may take one week or more to implement.

Student planners can be picked up outside the main office at any time. They're a fantastic tool!

Have a great weekend, Greyhounds!

Picture Day Take 2!

On Monday, September 13 Lifetouch will be here for our second round of school photos. ALL students who didn't get their picture taken at Jump Start must get their photo taken Monday. Pictures can be ordered online or students can pick up an order form in the office. The photo schedule is as follows:

9:00am – 9:30am – Freshmen

9:30am – 10:00am – Sophomores

10:00am – 10:30am – Juniors

10:30am – 11:00am - Seniors

Picture RETAKE day is Wednesday, October 20.

Free Breakfast Every Day! Opens at 8 am. Students must remain in the commons until 8:30 am. Lunch is free again this year, too!

Big picture

Remember to have a FULLY CHARGED district chromebook in school every day!

All students in grades 6-12 will be issued a district Chromebook and should have it in their hands by the end of the first week!

There is no wireless access called BYOD this year. It was not secure enough for us to continue using. Students may not bring personal laptops, chromebooks, or tablets to school. They must use the district chromebook.

If your student still hasn't received one, we recommend filling out the online form again. Follow that link in item 1 below.

JUNIORS will be able to go HOME for lunch again for the 21-22 school year

For this year ONLY due to COVID social distancing needs, Duluth Public Schools will be allowing 11th grade students to go HOME for lunch with parent/guardian permission.

A signed copy of this form must be submitted and approved, and the student must have their ID with the approval sticker on it, before they may leave for lunch. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Duluth East High School and Denfeld High School 2021-2022 Parent/Guardian Permission for Junior Student Lunch Release

Final day to drop a class without penalty (F on transcript) is Monday, September 20.

SENIORS ONLY: Late Start/Early Release and Open Campus Lunch Forms

Seniors are only allowed to take one period off as an early release or late start. If you are currently scheduled for a study hall in that period you will remain in that study hall, required to attend, until the Early Release/Late Start Form is completed and turned in to the office and your counselor changes your enrollment. Seniors who have a late start or early release AND a study hall MUST be in attendance for the study hall in order for your enrollment to be considered full time.

We are allowed to have open campus for lunch as long as the parent/guardian and student agree to the following conditions. Failure to meet these conditions may result in the privilege of open campus being revoked for the student and possibly for the entire senior class. Students MUST have this completed form submitted by the parent/guardian in order to be allowed to leave campus.

You MUST have your student ID on it's lanyard and in order to be allowed to leave at lunch. Those students with a completed form will receive a sticker for the back, making it easily identifiable by supervisory staff and principals at the door.

Parking Pass Applications will be distributed the week of September 13.

All students who applied for a pass should have their driver's license, proof of insurance, and $80 parking fee ready to go. We will start distributing passes on Monday. Once passes are handed out, we will make an announcement that parking without a pass is no longer permitted. (Expect this announcement on Monday or Tuesday, which means only vehicles with passes will be allowed in the lots after that day.)
