MMA Monday Montessori Moments
October 16, 2017
A Message from our Instructional Coach, Nicoletta Householder
Healthy Communication at MMA
Maria Montessori believed in dedication and commitment to the whole child; social skills, emotional skills, academia and cognitive awareness. At Maria Montessori Academy this dedication is fostered through the ongoing collaborative efforts between parents, school, teachers, and students.
Supporting this partnership at Maria Montessori Academy includes, but is not limited to, accessing teachers’ blogs, school blogs, weekly Monday Montessori Moments (MMM), and MMA’s Facebook page. Also following school dress code, wellness policy and attendance policy, as well as open communication through email or scheduled appointments, and parent teacher conferences.
Classroom blogs will help communicate individual classroom events, home projects, field trips, future lessons, and highlights of the past week, snack sign-ups, donation requests, and biographies about the classroom teachers. Each classroom blog is different and support communication with parents and students.
Parent teacher conferences are this week. This time will be a positive avenue to benefit your child, self, and teacher. These conferences happen three times a year and are a powerful tool of communication. It is not too late to sign up! Please see your teachers’ blog to do sign up, or call the front office if you need support.
Collaboration is a lifelong skill that teaches responsibility. It is the responsibility of parent, teacher, and student, along with our vested interest in the whole child, to help foster lifelong learners and problem solvers of the world. Healthy communication leads to collaboration, which unfolds in a cohesive team- a greater understanding on behalf of all.
The goal is to help the child become independent, confident, and responsible. Together we are each a part of this goal.

A message from our PE Teacher, Julia Gee (grades 1-9)
Here is a heads up for our PE Plans for this year.
- Run to the Moon Goal - the moon is approximately 250,000 miles from earth. The goal is to run 1 mile for every 10,000 miles to reach the "moon". Please keep track of your student's mileage on the forms that I provided them. Once they reach the required 25 required miles, please send a signed note so I can give them credit.
- Presidential Fitness Program - The Presidential Youth Fitness Program helps schools achieve excellence in physical education through quality fitness education and assessment practices by providing tools to: teach fitness concepts, assess fitness and understand results, plan for improvement or maintenance of fitness levels and empower students to be fit and active for life.
- Elks Club Hoop Shoot - The Elks Club hoop shoot will be offered to 8-11 year old students. This is a foul shooting competition. Students who are "in it to win it" should practice! The winning students will go on to compete at Bonneville High School on November 15th.
Let's keep our students healthy and active. Research has shown more active brain neurons in the brains of students who are physically active. If you have any questions please email me at jgee@mariamontessoriacademy.org
Thank you,
Julia Gee
