What You Need to Know

How to Check an Injured or Ill Child

  1. Check for responsiveness by shouting "are you okay?" or flicking them on the bottom of the foot
  2. Call 911 for immediate medical attention
  3. Open the airway and check for breathing
  4. Give 2 rescue breaths if they are not breathing
  5. Quickly scan the child for any severe bleeding
  6. If there is no breathing, perform CPR
