Christmas Shoe Box Appeal
You have already received a note about the Christmas shoe box appeal. Year 4 presented this information to the rest of the school at Assembly last Friday. It would be wonderful if each family would consider putting a shoe box together. I know the children are keen to participate. There is some information below about putting the shoe box together. Please consider this really worthwhile cause. Many thanks! Kate Levido/Claire McMahon.
Preparing your Edukans shoebox
Take a clean empty shoebox (not bigger than 36cm x 24cm x 15cm).
Decorate it with paper, stickers, drawings etc or maybe a photo of yourself! Make it a really lovely gift for the child receiving it! NB Please decorate the base and lid separately as the box will be opened at the warehouse for checking.
Decide on the age and gender of the child to receive the box. There is a yellow sticker in the information folder. Please add this to the top of the box and indicate your choice.
Fill your box with school items, toys and toiletries according to the age you have selected. You may want to add a toy or something of yours - please make sure it is clean and complete.
The basic items that should be included are:
pens & pencils
a soft toy
a toothbrush and toothpaste
And then other items that children like to receive may also be included:
a notebook, eraser, pencil case, colouring book, ruler, pencil sharpener
doll or puppet, car, a cap, small ball, yo-yo, puzzle, balloons, marbles, skipping rope, musical instruments etc
mirror, hair clips, hair brush or comb, flannel (face cloth), toiletbag etc
There are some things you should NOT include:
sweets or food
war related toys
When the box is complete, please put a large elastic band round it to keep it closed (don’t use sticky tape as it will tear when it is opened in the warehouse).
There is a 6 euro donation towards the shipping of the box. We cannot accept cash so each box must be accompanied by a completed authorisation form (Machtingsformulier) to allow Edukans to collect the donation from a bank account. (For just one 6 euro donation for this box tick the 'eenmalig' box).
Once everything is complete, deliver your box to school at the designated time and it will be taken to the Edukans depot and then sent on to its destination country.

In Maths lessons this week we have been measuring in different units and comparing and adding measurements.
We have worked in pairs or on our own to research a famous person for our Californian Project.
We are starting to get excited about the winter season. In our spare time at snack and break we have started to make decorations ready to put up next week.

Science - Light and Shadows
