Lady Trojans Advance to North Regionals
Congratulations to our softball team for making it to the North Regional Softball Tournament!
Our Lady Trojans will be playing Scottsboro on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at Noon at Coffee O'Neal Park in Florence. Wear white for a white-out!
- Wednesday will be a full day excused absence for students who attend the game and do the following:
- When students return they will need to turn in a note from parents stating the softball game as an excuse. The note needs to have the student's first and last name, parent's name, and phone number. They need to attach a copy of their ticket with the Noon game time on it.
***ALL notes and tickets must be turned in by Friday, May 14, 2021, to be excused.
***Students scheduled to take the AP English 11 Exam on Wednesday will not be excused. Students are expected to take their AP Exams.

Competition Cheer Parent Meeting
Are you interested in Competition Cheer at HGHS? Join us on Thursday for a Competition Cheer Informative Pre-Tryout Parent Meeting. Students in grades 7-12 are invited to join Competition Cheer. (Yes, 7th and 8th graders are included!) For more information, contact Coach Doug Glenn, Stacy Junjulas, or Christy Baeder. Please enter through the back of the school to get to the cafeteria.
Competition Cheer Tryouts
Competition Cheer Tryouts for grades 7-12 are May 17-19 from 3:30-5:00 in the Auxiliary Gym. Participants will enter through the back entrance of the main high school building and walk straight ahead into the main building lobby. The Auxiliary Gym is located to the left across from the vending machines.
***Middle school 7th and 8th graders are welcome!

SENIORS: Cap & Gown Pick-Up
Cap and gowns can be picked up by remote students on May 12th in the cafeteria from 1 to 2 p.m. and in front of the school from 4 to 5 p.m. Enter through door 44 to the left of the back courtyard if you are coming to the cafeteria.
***Seniors in school (traditional students) will pick up their cap and gown during their lunch time in the cafeteria on May 12th.

NEW: Mandatory Graduation Practice
We will have a mandatory graduation practice on May 21st at 11:30 a.m. (after seniors' last final exam) in the main gym. All seniors planning to walk at graduation must report to the gym at this time. For social distancing purposes, boys sit on east side and girls on west side. This will be the last time we will meet with seniors before our graduation rehearsal on May 26th at 7:30 a.m. at the VBC.
***Any senior with a device or textbook checked out from HG (Chromebook, MiFi, etc.) will turn them in at this time. Be sure to bring your Chromebook charger and MiFi charger as well.
***Seniors may also clear their school debts on this day if they have not already.
***We will take a senior group photo.
Early Grad Form for Rising Seniors: If you are a rising senior and want to be an early grad in December of your senior year, fill out THIS FORM.
JROTC AIR RIFLE TEAM:
Location: JROTC Air Rifle Range, Hazel Green High School
Dates: May 10-21, 2021 (each school day)
Training Days: May 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21
Team Qualifying Match Dates: May 20-21
Time: 6:15 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. each morning
Fee: Free (Student must be enrolled in JROTC at least one semester next school year.)

Bowling: Bowling tryouts will be Wednesday, May 12, at Pin Palace from 4 to 6 p.m. If you plan to try out, sign up on the list outside Coach Williams's room, N118.
Cross Country: Cross Country tryouts have been rescheduled for Monday and Tuesday, May 17th and 18th, from 3:30 to 5:00 at the HG track.
Volleyball: Volleyball tryouts have been moved to May 17-20 (4:00-5:30) in the main gym. Enter through door #44 in the courtyard. Athletes must have a current physical in hand to try out.
HGHS Graduation: Our Hazel Green High School Graduation will be held on May 26, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at the VBC Arena. Mandatory Graduation Rehearsal will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. at the VBC the morning of graduation. Each graduate will receive eight tickets for family and friends. Masks will be required for all graduates and guests.

Enrollment for NEW Students: PowerSchool Enrollment is now open for NEW students who will attend Madison County Schools for the school year 2021-2022. MCSS will offer two options for student instruction next school year: in-person instruction at your home school or enrollment in the Madison County Virtual Academy (grades 4-12). Attached is a newsletter containing information you will need to enroll your child in PowerSchool.
*RETURNING students will begin enrollment in June 2021.

PRICE: $75 (Price includes camp and t-shirt.)
After registration, you may pay the first day of camp by cash or check payable to HGHS.

*HGHS will serve lunch (and a breakfast for the next day) from 11:00-Noon each day to our remote students. There is no cost for these meals. Meals can be picked up in the car rider line at the back of the school.

Permanent Announcements
Online Application for Free/Reduced Meals: Online free and reduced meal applications are available at the link below for a faster, more confidential way to apply. A new application must be completed each school year to qualify for free or reduced meals. Your child's eligibility status carries over to the new school year for the first 30 school days, allowing parents time to re-apply. Only one application per household should be submitted, and everyone living in the house must be included on the application.

Subscriptions are $9.99 a month (can be renewed monthly) or $69.99 a year (renewed annually).
Great for family or friends who cannot attend events or those who live a distance away.
HGHS Check-Out Procedures:
- Students drop check-out notes in the basket on the attendance clerk’s desk before 8:30 in the morning.
- Notes will be verified by the attendance clerk prior to the time of check-out.
- Check-out notes need the following information:
- Student’s first and last name (printed)
- Time of check-out
- Reason for check-out
- Parent’s signature
- Parent’s contact information
Without a parent note, no student will be allowed to check out unless a parent/guardian comes to the Attendance Office to check out the student. Parent notes must be turned in to the Attendance Office before 8:30 a.m. No phone checkouts will be allowed. The only exception will be if the school nurse determines that a student is sick and needs to go home. The school nurse will then contact the parent/guardian and the Attendance Office.
*Please go to door #44 at the back of the school (near the Trojan statue and courtyard) for all check outs. No check outs are done through the front office.
