Information for the Week Ending February 9, 2018
- Today was the last RIF Party of the year. I wish to extend a special thank you to Mrs. Cooper and Mrs. Castro who leveled every book. A huge shout-out to our PTO Parents who volunteered their time and assisted students in choosing a book. And finally, a round of applause for Mrs. Doane, IEF's Reading Specialist for organizing and working with our PTO on one of the highlights of our year.
- Friday, February 16th is now a day of school for both students and staff.
- Monday, February 19th, school is closed in observance of President's Day.
Storybook STEAM Event
This was an application activity from Lois Lowry's novel Number the Stars. All groups were given a bag with a small piece of fabric, paper, and tape and were tasked with creating a vessel-of-sorts to disguise fabric which could be identified by outsiders. Below are a few pictures from Mrs. Holmes' class. All teachers took pictures and some will definitely be in the yearbook. Parents, look for yourself in the yearbook!
Thank you, teachers, for creating this extension activity. Thank you, parent volunteers, who assisted and offered suggestions.
I am so proud of everyone!
Strategic Planning
Students, Staff, Parents, and Community Members,
You are cordially invited to participate in a Strategic Planning Summit for Green Brook Township schools. This process will enable us to create a blueprint for the next level of teaching and learning in our schools!
Come work side-by-side with other parents, community members, school board members, professional and support staff, administrators, and students.
We seek your participation and wisdom in this process!
There will be two sessions on Wednesday, 2/14/18:
9:00 AM at the IEF Media Center
6:30 PM at the GBMS Media Center
Choral/Instrumental Music Concert
The concert this year will be for everyone in the school, including Pre-K. Ms. Grutta is basing the concert on the book My Many Colored Days by Dr. Seuss. Each grade will "have" one or two of the colors in the book and perform inspired pieces.
The students will have two performances of the concert:
March 21 at 9:30 for PreK-Grade 2 Parents
March 22 at 9:30 for Grade 3-4 Parents
If parents have children in multiple grades they can come to either performance.
