Hat, Sock, and Mitten Drive
The Student Lighthouse Community Service Action team will be sponsoring a hat/mitten/scarf/sock drive running from November 18th through December 2nd.
This project has been brought to us by a remarkable young man named Caleb White (www.calebwhiteproject.com). We were fortunate to have him visit Silver Springs on Friday. At an assembly, he shared with students the history behind The Caleb White Project. We are partnering with him to make a difference in the lives of others.
Please consider picking up one of these items while you begin your holiday shopping. We are hoping that our Silver Springs Community can synergize to make this a successful project. As a reward, the class that collects the most items at the end of the drive will receive a hot cocoa and cookies party!
Silver Springs Night at Wok Bistro
The Wok Bistro in downtown Northville will be hosting a fundraiser for Silver Springs Leader in Me program on Thursday, December 1st.
· Fundraiser will occur during business hours that day-lunch and dinner count!
· 15-20% (appetizers, desserts, drinks, meals are all included) of proceeds will go back to Silver Springs.
· All dine-in, takeout, and online orders will be considered
· Don’t forget to let them know that you are supporting our school!!
Enjoy a delicious and healthy meal while helping out Silver Springs!
Leadership Day is coming soon!!!
Leadership Day is scheduled for Friday, December 9th from 9:15 - 11:55 a.m.
This year, we would like to invite new families to Silver Springs. Our hope is to show you how the 7 Habits have become the guiding principles in developing our school culture. You will also have the opportunity to visit classrooms to learn from our student leaders what the 7 Habits are, how the 7 Habits can become guiding principles in your home, and what common language can be used at home and at school.
Invitations went home last week to all new families. Please contact your child's teacher if you did not receive one and you are interested in attending.
We are also looking for some help to make Leadership Day successful for our students and guests. Please see the sign up genius link for items in need of donation as well as volunteer opportunities.

Supporting the The 7 Habits at home!
Habit #3 Put First Things First- "Work First, Then Play"
What this means: Focus on what is important, schedule the important things first. Don’t be a dreamer - stay focused!
“I spend my time on things that are most important.”
“I say no to things I know I should not do.”
“I set priorities, make a schedule, and follow my plan.”
“I am disciplined and organized.”
How can I do this in my life?
1. Do your homework as soon as you come home from school.
2. Do something you have been putting off for a long time.
3. Think about your most important responsibilities. Do them first.
Great Books for Habit #3- Put First Things First
The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle
Pokey and the Spelling Test by Sean Covey
