READING CLASSES COMPLETE NOVEL STUDY WITH FRIENDLY RACES

7th grade reading classes just finished the novel, GHOST, by Jason Reynolds. The book follows the story of a boy that finds a sense of belonging on a track team after experiencing a traumatic family event. Students loved the novel and couldn't wait to get out on the track and compete in some friendly races themselves. What a fun way to wrap up the novel study!

STUDENTS LEARN ABOUT DIA DE LOS MUERTOS

November 2nd is Day of the Dead, a Mexican Holiday similar to Memorial Day in the United States. It is a time for families to gather and honor their loved ones who have passed away. A key part of Dia de los Muertos is building an Ofrenda (altar). It is customary to add a photo of your deceased relatives as well as their favorite food, drink, or other item to remember them by.

The Spanish department will be setting up an Ofrenda in C Hall for this holiday and students are invited to bring a photo of someone in their life that has passed away that they want to honor. If you would like to participate, please bring a COPY of a photo of the person you would like to honor to Sra. Campbell in room C100. Please do NOT bring an original photo as it will be outside of the classroom and we can't guarantee things won´t be touched. You can also bring the deceased person's favorite food or drink to set beside the photo and a small note explaining who this person is to you.

FRESHMAN FOOTBALL

The Freshman Broncos of Bedford Jr High made the hour drive up to Brock, Texas Thursday night to take on the Brock Eagles.

Caleb Walton came out strong scoring two massive early touchdowns. Giving up a couple of early touchdowns back to the Brock Eagles the Broncos were in for a tough game. Another touchdown scored late by Jacob Preskenis brought the Broncos closer. Unfortunately, the Broncos could not pull it out last night coming up a little short of winning. The Broncos play Allen High next week.

8TH GRADE FOOTBALL

The 8th grade played against Harwood Jr High Tuesday night.

The A team dominated from the first snap winning 28-0. Braylon Harris had 3 touchdowns rushing on the night, and completed a 60 yard touchdown pass to Jeremy Martinez. The Defense had another shut out with standouts being Tyler Cramer, Gery Sanchez, Paul Watkins, Channing Humphrey, and PJ Bryant. Great Job Broncos.

The B team played hard but came up short, losing 24-22. Kie'von Fields scored 3 times, twice on kickoff returns. Luke Pryor led the offense up and down the field, Kody Scott and Marco Tijerina contributed yards to the effort. The Defense was spearheaded by Andrew Rojas, Rafael Ascenscio, Lawson Deck, and Gideon Floyd. Sladen Reams also had a pick six on Monday.

We look to continue the success next week in the showcase, Opponent, time, and location to be determined.

7TH GRADE FOOTBALL

Monday night the 7th grade football teams played cross town rival Harwood.

The A team played first against an agile Blackhawk squad. In the 1st half the Broncos and Hawks were going back and forth with field possession heading into the half 0 to 0. In the end, your Broncos won on a 40 yard run by Anthony Price to produce their first victory of the season. Players of the game were Myles Still, Ashton Scott and Anthony Price.

The B team played next and they started the game on fire with 2 long runs by Jaterion Hall. B team ended the game with a 26-7 victory against Harwood. Players of the game were Hall, Noah Due and the entire defense.

7TH GRADE VOLLEYBALL

The 7th grade Team 2 earned 2nd place at their tournament this past weekend, defeating North Oaks, North Ridge, and Hurst, before dropping a match to North Ridge in the championship game.

In pool play Friday, our girls played their best volleyball of the season, with consistent serves from every rotation & lights-out defense from all 6 on the court. Saturday morning the Hurst Raiders were no match for the level to which our girls were playing, falling 6-25 and 16-25 & clearing a path to the championship game for us. In the final game, North Ridge was out for revenge & after a hard fought two games, they got it. We dropped both sets, 20-25 and 17-25. Every girl contributed &

Improved this weekend & Coach is so proud of y’all!

Thank you for everyone’s help making our tournament great!

Big picture
The 7th grade volleyball team made another statement this week, taking down the #1 seed Harwood Monday night in deciding fashion.

Team 2 showed some outstanding defensive play, taking down the Blackhawks in two games straight. Game 1 was tight the whole way but our confidence didn’t skip a beat and we came out on top, 21 to 25.
In game 2, our girls finished up Harwood 15 to 25, and earned their 5th win of the season, the 4th in a row.

Harwood came into this game undefeated, but didn’t leave that way. In team 1’s game, our Broncos overpowered the Blackhawks 25 - 12, putting them on their heels, but Harwood came back strong in game 2, taking set 2 from us 10-25. In the third and deciding set 3, in front of a packed house, our girls stayed poised and focused and handed Harwood it’s first loss of the season, 25-12.

This was a huge win for both our teams and a testament to how hard they’ve been working. We only have two more regular season games before we make a run into playoffs, one of which is at home on Nov 2nd. Come out and help us finish the season strong!
