Accessing & Interpreting Your Student's FAST Scores
Dear Coyote Families,
The state’s second FAST Progress-Monitoring (PM) window is currently open, and a majority of students have already taken their assessment in either ELA and/or Math. Your child’s teacher uses the results of the assessment to measure general achievement in reading and/or math, and to determine your child’s learning needs.
It is important to understand that these test scores provide only one picture of how your child is doing in school. At the beginning of the year, students were certainly not expected to demonstrate mastery of grade-level skills. At the mid-year point, students should be demonstrating growth from their beginning of the school year assessment period. Students are taught skills throughout the year and should move towards mastery as the school year progresses.
If your child has already taken FAST PM2, the scores are loaded into the Pasco Parent Portal and can be viewed by clicking the FAST icon. Additional directions for accessing these scores, as well as additional information regarding FAST testing and interpreting the scores, can be found by going to the Pasco Schools website. From there, click on Departments and then, Accountability, Research, and Measurement. In the center of the page and in the right navigation pane, you will see information regarding the FAST test.
If you have any additional questions regarding your student’s score, please reach out to your child’s ELA or Math teacher.
Sincerely,
Tim Light
8th Grade Shoutouts!
If you'd like to send a shout-out to an 8th grader, please use the link below. All shout-outs will be placed in a folder for each student and provided to them after their 8th-grade breakfast on May 25th. There is no template for the shout-outs. No shout-outs will be accepted after Monday, May 22nd to allow time to put all shout-outs into the student folders prior to the 8th-grade breakfast. You are welcome to start submitting any shoutouts to our Machform as early as now. If you want to make or create something to be placed in their folder, you are also welcome to submit shoutouts in person at our front desk, please make sure they are placed in an envelope with Kayla Nieves’s name on it.
Lastly, Please make sure you include the students first and last name on the letter to ensure it goes into the correct folder.
