Tuesday, Sept. 7 is for students with Social Studies during 5th, 6th or 7th period.

As we start the year with students in the process of setting personal and academic goals, it is important to remember how these might impact eligibility for the SSMS chapter of National Junior Honor Society. National Junior Honor Society is a national organization that serves to honor students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship.

In early May 2022, students who meet the grade criteria for SSMS National Junior Honor Society chapter will be invited to apply for membership. To be eligible for an invitation, a student must be a current 6th and 7th grader who has a minimum cumulative grade point average of 92 in each of their four core courses (ELA, Math, Science and Social Studies) for T1-T3 when nine weeks grades for each course are averaged. (Please note: Candidates may add 5 points to their cumulative average for a course if they are taking a Pre-AP or above grade level course.)

In addition to the academic requirement for the opportunity to apply to SSMS NJHS, members must uphold excellence in leadership, character and citizenship. Please understand that meeting the grade requirement and/or completion of the application requirements does not guarantee membership. Tigers, have you wondered what exactly happens in a Gifted and Talented class? Do you want to know more about Dripping Springs' GT program? If so, we invite you and your parents to a GT Information night held at Dripping Springs High School Lecture Hall on Tuesday, September 7th at 6:00pm. No RSVP required, please just come and hear about our Dripping Springs GT programs. We look forward to seeing you there!

The school dance originally scheduled for mid September and sponsored by PTA has been postponed and will be rescheduled later in the semester.
