College is expensive…How do I pay for it?
One common way to help cover the cost of college is to apply for Financial Aid. Start by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) free application. Applications open December 1st with a new and improved format- apply early!
Helpful resources:
Fair Opportunity Project - Help with the FAFSA, applications, and more!
Completing the FAFSA can be a bit tedious. Plan to attend one of the virtual or in person events to have all of your questions answered. Please see Mr. Hornickel with more questions.
Check the college website!
Most colleges award honor scholarships based on your high school GPA. Be sure to check into this as you apply for colleges. Additionally, colleges will also have a list of new freshman scholarships specific to majors and programs. Be sure to utilize the college website and scholarship portal for specific information. Many of these will have deadlines - so apply early!

Financial Aid and Scholarships
Deerfield School website is awesome!
Ms. Poirier does an amazing job keeping the scholarship page up to date and organized. She works hard to post scholarships for a variety of career areas and academic levels. Check back to this page often for more postings. Also, don’t be afraid to look at other schools’ scholarship pages. Do some digging and research. The local scholarships will be opened in February. Check back with Ms. Gloede at that time for a scholarship workshop.
BE more than smart, be involved!
What you do matters.
Set yourself apart on a scholarship application or essay. Create some real life volunteer experiences to reflect on. Find ways to get involved in your school or community. There is still time to join clubs. Volunteer. Explore new opportunities. Try something new. Make a difference.
