Youth Philanthropy Grants Program
The Fremont Area Community Foundation’s popular Youth Philanthropy Contest is now called the Youth Philanthropy Grants Program! Still the same great opportunity for kids in grades K-12 to use their creativity, compassion and talent to make a difference in the lives of other... but funding is now available at any time YEAR ROUND!!
We are asking kids throughout the Fremont area to bring us their best ideas for making a difference in their communities. The Foundation may provide grants of up to $1,000 to help them make their ideas happen. We will also provide an adult mentor (from an area service club or non-profit organization) to help those with winning ideas complete their projects successfully.
We are looking for ideas that have a positive impact in the community, take place in our grant-making area, are charitable in nature, and - most importantly - engage young people in philanthropy!

A pre-application and full application is available on the FACF website. For help and more info contact Melissa or Leigh at 402-721-4252 or info@facfoundation.org.
September is National Preparedness Month
Club Meeting Idea! When we have "blue skies", that's the best time to work on your home, vehicle, or office emergency kits and disaster preparedness plans. When grey skies are forecast, your kits and emergency plans need to be ready to go at a moment's notice. Get together as a club and create disaster plans, kits, bags, or organize a donation to a charity group that helps others dealing with disasters. Floods, fires, food or water shortages, tornadoes, and ice storms can change our living situation in the blink of an eye. 4-Hers can learn how to plan for these events so they are better prepared for stressful situations.
Kit Ideas: What type of emergency kit do you plan to work on during disaster preparedness month?
- Create a kit with enough supplies to shelter-in-place for at least 48 hours. Store supplies in a waterproof container or tote. Depending on the number of people living in your home, you may need more than one container:
- Go bag or “bad-day bag”: this is a grab-and-go backpack or portable bag like a duffle that will go with you if you need to evacuate.
- Vehicle kits with emergency supplies. The supplies in these kits will change depending on the season. Do you have a kit ready for winter travel?
Kit Locations: Make sure everyone in the home knows where disaster kit(s) are kept.
Review & Refit: Regularly review your kits and replace items that may have been used or are expired.
As you go: Build your kits over time. Start with items you may already have in your home, like a flashlight, extra batteries, water and non-perishable food. If you add canned foods, look for pull-tab lids or be sure to include a manual can opener in your kit.
Have fun, be creative and engage: Send us short videos, artwork, photographs or include a list of what is included in your kits.
