About Javelin

Javelin Throw is a track event performed in the Olympics. To participate in this event you need a javelin, a metal stick with a spear on the end. The goal is to throw the javelin as far as you can.

Goal

Men and woman are on the road to be coming equal through Olympic sports. In this investigation I compared the data of past contestants and figured out when they would intersect.

Javelin History

Olympic athlete, Leryn Franco from the 2008 summer games is a model and javelin thrower. She is so strong and brave to be an athlete and model. I really inspire her for doing both and showing everyone that you can do anything you want.

Times

Data Table

The data table describes the year, men's and women's times. The comparison is not that different from the men and women which can make it easier for women to surpass men.

Graphs

X Coordinate

The x coordinate in this scenario is the year of the games. This is the value that indicates the year of each distance. It is the answer to this problem.

Y Coordinate

The y coordinate in this scenario is the distance the javelin is thrown. This shows when women will be the same or surpass men in the distance.

Prediction

The 2096 Olympic Games will be a life changing time for javelin throw. This will be when women surpass men in distance thrown.
