Thoughts from Dr. Pacatte
On Monday, February 1st, students assigned to Group A for our Hybrid Program will return to school at Spaulding, Prairie Trail, and River Trail. Viking's A and B groups will begin their half day on-site programs on February 1st as well. Group B for our Hybrid Program (not including Viking students) will return to school on Monday, February 8. While this will be very different than a regular day in school, we will finally have students in the building and that is a step in the right direction. Is it perfect? No. I am not sure when and if we will be able to return to the manner in which schools used to operate in the near or distant future. Until the social distancing guidelines change, we will be limited to the number of students we can serve at one time. Yet, we will do the very best we can given our circumstances and guidelines.
I suspect that some families are in a "wait and see" mode before determining if they want their child to return to school. If you are waiting to see what your friends/neighbors are saying before sending your children to school, please know that we will be allowing periodic changes from Remote Learning to Hybrid Learning. If you notify your school that you would like to switch to Hybrid you may need to wait until the next available return date. If you are not starting on Monday in the Hybrid program, but decide to switch, you must notify your building by Wednesday, February 10th. Those children will be able to start on Tuesday, February 16th, (Group A or A/B@Viking) or Monday, February 22nd, (Group B). The next opportunity to switch would be at the start of the 4th quarter. Schools will need to be notified by Friday, March 19th, for a 4th quarter return to the Hybrid program on Tuesday, April 6th, (Group A or A/B@Viking) and Monday, April 12th (Group B).
