Northside Specials
May 11-15
Dear Northside Family,
It is so hard to believe that this is the last week of school! Although this is certainly not how we expected the school year to end, we are so proud of all of you for your perseverance & resilience during these challenging times. We have no doubt that this time in your life will make you stronger; thank you so much for all of your hard work! We are hopeful that we will see you again in the fall!
Have a great summer & stay safe!

Hello Friends!
I am very grateful to have been your art teacher over the last 13 weeks!!! I look forward to being your substitute teacher again next year! For my 5th Graders, good luck and pursue your dreams!! You can be anyone you want to be as long as you put your mind to it!
This week's project is “God’s Eye” or “Ojo de Dios”. They are a spiritual and votive object made by weaving a design out of yarn upon wooden sticks. They originated in Central America. Here is a link where I demonstrate how to create one. https://youtu.be/AfFWvnn38FA
I look forward to working and seeing you all again next year!!
Music
Hello friends!
I have loved being your music teacher over the past two years. I have missed seeing your smiling faces every day, singing with you, and playing games. However, I will not be returning to Northside next year. The three goals I wrote on my All About Me sheet at the beginning of the year were to “get to know my students better,” “get my Master’s degree,” and “see the world.”
I have been given the opportunity to pursue my Master’s degree next year, so I am moving to California. Moving will allow me to accomplish the two remaining goals I have set for myself. I am wishing you all well EVERY DAY! I encourage you to set goals for yourself and do everything you can to accomplish those goals.
Your final activity this week is to simply listen to some of your favorite songs. If you are able share your favorite songs with a family member, teacher, or friend, do that too! My two favorite songs are Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin and Mr. Blue Sky by Electric Light Orchestra.

Happy Summer, Northside!
Typically the last week of school we play our favorite games in PE; I am challenging you this week to play your favorite game & teach it your family! Find a new activity that you enjoy doing outside (ex: rollerblading, golfing, frisbee, etc.)...there are so many ways to be active & enjoy the outdoors!
If you would like an additional challenge, I'm also encouraging you to "Create Your Own Game". You can use the guideline below, if you wish.
I hope you all have a fantastic & active summer! To the 5th graders: I will miss all of you greatly & regret that we didn't get to finish the year together. You have been a fantastic class & I enjoyed your personalities, sense of humor, & respectful attitudes. Hopefully I will see you in the hallways at the middle school while I'm coaching :) Good luck & do your best!!
*Remember to check Class Dojo & Facebook for additional daily challenges!
