Finals Week
As our students approach first semester finals, some important reminders:
- Final exams have been adjusted to occur before Winter Break, as they were last year. Finals are summative assessments of the semester curriculum, and required for nearly every course, for all students.
- Families are advised to plan any holiday trips during the winter break, and not during finals week. Every class gives a final, and these exams are taken very seriously. Should a student need to miss finals, arrangements must be made with the teachers involved to take the finals AFTER return from break. Students missing finals will be assigned an Incomplete Grade, which will hold for 6 weeks, allowing the student to make up the work before that grade is calculated, with or without the final exam.
- All Students who require a makeup day for finals must take their exams on Tuesday January 8th, 3:15pm in the Lecture Hall with an arranged proctor. Arrangements will be made at the end of that session for continued makeups if more time is needed.
- Per Board of Ed Code, vacations are recorded as 'Unexcused Absences'. Please see district website for more information.
- If you have any questions, please contact your Vice Principal, the attendance secretary, Lynn Cassidy, or your academic counselor for guidance!
Ideas to help your student through Finals Week!
- Make sure they eat a good, hearty breakfast
- Try to encourage plenty of sleep!
- Spend time at dinner quizzing them or listen to them explain a topic that will appear on the test
- Remind your student that self-care is a large component of testing success- go over ways they can relax before and during the test!
