Walled Lake Schools Survey
The Walled Lake Schools staff works diligently to serve every child, every day! Walled Lake Schools is seeking input from the community for the 2017-18 school year. The purpose of this 20-question, multiple choice survey, that also includes two open-ended questions, is to gather feedback from our parents, staff, community members and former students, to improve.
· WLCSD Parent/Community Survey 2018
With your participation, we believe we will be better positioned to attain our mission:
Our mission, in partnership with parents and the community, is to become the best educational system in America so all students demonstrate they are caring, responsible, and knowledgeable citizens.
Thank you for taking a few moments to give us your responses and input.
Attention 5th graders!
The Walnut Creek First Tech Challenge (FTC) Team is looking Walnut Creek-bound 5th graders that are interested in robotics
What is First Tech Challenge?
It’s way more than building robots. FIRST Tech Challenge teams are challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots to compete in a head-to-head challenge in an alliance format. Participants call it “the hardest fun you’ll ever have!”
Guided by adult coaches and mentors, students develop STEM skills and practice engineering principles (like keeping an engineering notebook), while realizing the value of hard work, innovation, and sharing ideas. The robot kit is reusable from year-to-year and can be programmed using a variety of languages, including Java. Teams also must raise funds, design and market their team brand, and do community outreach for which they can win awards. The FTC season concludes with Super-Regional Championships and an exciting FIRST Championship.

Parent Contribution
These programs do not happen without help from parents. We need parents who are willing to work with team role groups full or part time. If you have expertise or interest in any of the role groups, please consider leading a group. There will be opportunities throughout the season to help groups or individuals accomplish tasks outside of team meetings, help with competition logistics, provide snacks, or guide a group to achieve a specific goal.
Informational Meeting
We will be holding an informational/signup meeting for parents and their student on Wednesday, June 20th from 7-8pm at the Commerce Township Library. Please join us to learn more about the program and to take a look at the robot that competed in the 2017 season.
