PRINCIPAL'S CORNER
Dear Roosevelt Parents/Guardians,
I am pleased to share with you that on Monday, October 23, the Board of Education voted unanimously to begin the bidding process for the Roosevelt summer 2018 construction proposal. As you recall, the project will remodel portions of Roosevelt Elementary School to create future ready learning environments for our almost 700 students while enhancing safety in and around our campus.
As we look forward to 2018, we are hoping to renew and improve our learning spaces inside the school to ensure they are future-focused and will serve students and our community for many decades to come. By making more efficient use of existing space -- without any expansion of the building footprint -- we will be able to relocate all first grade classrooms into the main hallway to establish a new “primary wing.” We also will create a new fine arts music wing and shift our school office further north along Prospect (closer to the Albion Avenue end) to create a secure, accessible visitor entrance/office off the parking lot. Here again is a summary of the proposed changes.
Over the next few months, we will be making adjustments to the architect drawings as they are prepared for public bidding. Later this winter, the Board will be asked to give final approval to go forward once the competitive bids have been received. The exact timeline has not yet been set, but we we will keep you informed as the District moves through this approval process.
Thank you for your time and insights over the past few weeks regarding these proposed improvements. I will continue to update everyone on these exciting plans for Roosevelt School as we look ahead to the building’s 90th birthday!
Sincerely,
Dr. Dwyer, Principal

Put Your Child’s Name on Everything!
As winter approaches, students are bringing more clothing items to school each day. Write your child’s name and teacher’s name on hats, gloves, coats, lunch bags, boots, backpacks, and all other items. This will avoid your belongings being placed in our lost and found.
