Masks strongly encouraged for all
In Northside ISD the safety of our school family combined with the highest quality teaching and learning are our greatest priorities. As we continue to monitor increasing cases of COVID-19, we STRONGLY encourage all students, staff, and visitors to wear well-fitting face coverings in accordance with the recommendations of many groups of medical professionals.
In addition, if a staff member or student tests positive or needs to be quarantined because of exposure, they should continue to wear a mask for the 5 days following their return to campus in order to protect other students and staff around them. This is guidance from the CDC.
Wearing masks has long been considered best practice in the medical field, protecting both doctor and patient. In the same way, everyone wearing masks in our schools will protect both students and teachers.
The use of a well-fitting facemask, along with our current safety protocols, will help keep our schools open. We believe in-person learning is the best way for students to learn, play sports, create music and art, become problem solvers and leaders. By wearing a mask in school, we can better protect the health of our Northside family and reduce possible disruptions to learning.
In addition to the use of masks, our current protocols include:
- Routine cleaning and sanitizing of classrooms, common areas, and buses;
- Hosting of numerous vaccine locations and testing sites across the District;
- Weekly reporting of confirmed COVID cases on our website.
We are grateful for the opportunity to educate and support your child as we face this challenging situation together. Thank you for your support of Northside schools.
