Foothill MS Community Memo

September 9, 2021

Good evening Foothill Community,

Just wanted to share a few updates with you including the Virtual Visit I'm hosting tomorrow, Friday, September 10 at 8:30am. It is a casual meeting with no agenda but an opportunity to ask questions that hopefully I will be able to answer or follow-up with an answer. Students are navigating through our drop rotation as we enter the mid point of 1st quarter and we're doing our best to endure this latest heatwave. Luckily we have water filling stations throughout the campus to keep all hydrated.

Proud to serve the Foothill Community,

Your principal, Mrs. Vaiana

Updates on our 1:1 Chromebooks

Chromebooks are in every student's hands and present in their classes. Here are a few important details to remember:

  • These are MDUSD devices which means you are responsible for their care. You may not download items to the device, do not put stickers on the case, and a few other important details you can find in the Parent/Guardian/Student Agreement and Handbook.
  • Chromebooks should not be out at lunch time unless you are in a classroom. This is to encourage downtime from screens as well as safety and well being of the device.

If you have not decided on whether to purchase the affordable device insurance through Securranty you may want to consider it. To sign up for Securranty insurance, please go to https://securranty.com/mdusd.

School Donations at the Foothill MS Webstore

Foothill Middle School appreciates the support families provide through donations for our classes. All Donations are collected through the Foothill MS Webstore, found at that link or on our homepage.

  • Donations provide materials, which include licensing, software programs, and supplies; this is especially true of elective classes.
  • All the materials (whether tangible or not) are designed to aid students in learning and developing their skills.
  • These are ONLY for Foothill MS students. Donations do not feed into the District funds. T
  • All donations are tax deductible (tax ID#68-0091157). Any contribution is greatly appreciated.

This is not the PFA ED Fund.

REPOST: ParentSquare and StudentSquare information

ParentSquare and StudentSquare is THE mode of communication for MDUSD and Foothill MS.

  • Weekly there is a District Friday Letter that is mailed to families to keep you in the know.
  • Classroom teachers and Principal messages will be pushed out as well. Depending on the content it may be to both groups or just Parents/Guardians as needed.
  • This allows 2-way communication between the school and the student and families. (This can also be done by downloading the app but the app is not required to receive messages).

If you have received NO communication to this date please send an email to our Office Manager, Ms. Martin (martine@mdusd.org) or call the office.

Atttendance One-Pager

This one-pager is a great resource for clearing absences, what are valid excuses for absences (CA EdCode), getting an off-campus pass, and more specifics.
