What is conflict?
Conflict is interference by one person with the achievement of another person's goals.
What is Desirable conflict?
A small amount of conflict sometimes beneficial because it may challenge employees and stimulate fresh ideas.
What is undesirable conflict?
Results when the actions of any person or group interfere with the goals of an organization.
How can desirable conflict lead to undesirable conflict?
When an employee tries to help within the business but actually ends up causing a conflict.
What is a manager's role in resolving conflict?
Since conflicts can be solved in different ways the manager is the one who decides which problem solving strategy to use.
What is avoidance strategy?
Taking a neutral position or agreeing with another person's position even though it differs from your personal belief in order to avoid problems.
What is the compromise strategy?
Everyone involved in the conflict agrees to a mutually accepted solution.
What is the win/lose strategy?
A strategy in which no one compromises, therefore resulting in someone winning and another losing.
