cholesterol is a health promoting substance that helps learning and memory. it assists in cell signaling and is a processor in all steroid hormones and vitamin D. cholesterol is very important to developing brain components, it helps with intestinal facilities and connects cells.
two different types of cholesterol and triglycerides
LDL
this type of cholesterol is the "bad" kind of cholesterol it contributes to plaque build up in the arteries eventually making them less flexible causing arteriosclerosis which will lead to a heart attack or stroke.
HDL
this type id a "good" type this cholesterol carries away LDL out of the arteries back to the liver where it is broken down and the body is benefited. this type of cholesterol is the kind that assists in signaling and vitamin production.
triglycerides
triglycerides are used to store excess fat from food. usually associated from high LDL levels and are not good. they contribute to plaque build up and eventually assist in arteriosclerosis.
