Early Learning Center Update
ELC families,
Happy New Year!
As I shared in December, we will be welcoming our students back to the building for Hybrid 2.0. We will also be continuing our early childhood distance learning plan for families that elect a remote placement. I have a few helpful videos and documents below in case you have any questions regarding the plan. Please feel free to reach out to me, your child's teacher or team if you have any questions. We will be busy planning and finalizing all the details regarding class placements after we return.

Illinois State Board of Education Chat2Learn Program
ELC is excited to provide our parents with the opportunity to enroll in a free parent text program called Chat2Learn! Chat2Learn will provide you with research-based guidance for daily conversations with your child that will build literacy, math and social skills.
Chat2Learn text messages start on Sunday, 12/13 and go through the end of June 2021. We encourage you to sign up early so you can take advantage of the whole program!
To sign up, simply fill out this parent enrollment form. Parents can choose to “opt out” or unenroll in the program at any time by texting “stop” once you start to receive text messages. If you have questions about Chat2Learn, contact biplab@uchicago.edu.
Winter Break Home Internet Security Check: Limit Adult Websites on a Barrington 220 iPad
The start of winter break is a good time to routinely check and maintain your home Internet security plan. With a break from school, students are likely to spend more unsupervised time using their iPad. Using the Screen Time feature built into the District iPad can help you establish web content restrictions. If you do not already have home Internet filtering set up, you can set up Screen Time on the district iPad to limit adult content as a first step.
