SLE News
January 23-27
Thank you for a million different things...
This week was hard on the Silver Lake Family. The loss of a loved one, and especially a child brings so much grief and there are no words that can possibly communicate our love and support for those who are hurting around us. We have all handled this news in different ways, with prayers, tears, hugs, stories, and anger just to name a few. It is also during these times that "the family" pitches in and does what it takes to love and take care of each other. You have ALL been amazing support to Sheri and Lori's entire family units and to each other. You have taken your grief and put it into action through calls, texts, notes, meals, emails, encouragement, covering classrooms, making sure that each other was aware of plans, attending the funeral, and taking care of each others children. This list could go on.
As you rest this weekend, I hope that you will reflect and be incredibly grateful for each other and the family that we have at Silver Lake. I am here to tell you that it is not like this at every school and district. Our community at SLE is a unique microcosm of people who care deeply about each other and the work that we do in serving students. We may not always agree. OK, we don't always agree, but that struggle is reflective of our differences and strong desire to do what we think is right. The struggle is healthy and through that struggle we make each other better! Better teachers, better people, better moms and dads, and better friends. It also prepares us to be available to walk side by side with our friends as they experience difficult days, that would be impossible to face without each other. You are all an amazing gift and I am grateful for each of you!

Summer School
Teacher applications and course proposals are now being accepted for Summer Enrichment 2017. Our theme this year is “Rockin’ Through the Summer” and we would love for you to come and ROCK with us! We are looking for courses that meet the needs of all students in a variety of areas including arts and crafts, music, theater, writing, problem solving, science, cooking, and more! Courses are 3 hours in length (8:30-11:30 or 12:30-3:30) and will run for one week, Monday-Friday. As a Summer Enrichment teacher, you get to choose when you would like to offer your course(s) so you can work around your summer plans.
