Teacher Stress

Teaching can be physically and mentally exhausting. It is rewarding but also can be life-sucking.

Here are some shorts and quick thoughts on dealing with the stress of being a teacher.

  1. Some days will not work out the way you want them to so it is okay to start again tomorrow. The ability to “get back up” is something we want to teach our kids, so it is okay to do the same. Sometimes, walking away, taking a break, doing something else, and starting again tomorrow is alright.
  2. Your students look up to you but that doesn’t mean you need to be perfect. Being vulnerable and showing that you are a person not only makes you more relatable but more realistic to your students. In a world that is becoming more “digital,” being “human” is more important than ever
  3. Breaks are good for you. Take them and enjoy them. And there is evidence that "breaks" will make you better at what you do, longterm. “Teacher guilt” is a real thing and not beneficial. Growth is essential to all educators, but the focus on growth all of the time can and will lead to burnout.

Student Profile Sheets

Below you will find an electronic version of the profile sheets. Just remember when you print to print onto or copy onto the blue/pink paper so we can easily identify boy-girl. Thanks!

Movement Guidelines

Staff moving to another building for 2019-2020 school year will leave all furniture at Zitzman. Attached is a copy of the district moving guidelines. We will follow these guidelines. See Ketina if you have a question or concern regarding furniture or curriculum.

***All grade 5 curriculum resources will be sent to Pacific Intermediate. Those items will need to be boxed up and labeled.

Lifetime Achievement Award in Character Education

Do you know someone who embodies character in our school? Nominate them for an award. This award is named in honor of Character.org Founder Sandy McDonnell who dedicated much of his adult life to improving our nation’s schools and developing good character in others, especially young people. Among other things, Sandy instituted a company-wide ethics program as CEO of McDonnell Douglas Aircraft, served as National President of the Boy Scouts of America, and founded CharacterPlus in St. Louis.

Help Missouri Students Advance in the Technical Programs

Governor Mike Parson has indicated that preparing students for Missouri’s 21st century workforce is a top priority in the state. Opportunities abound in today’s economy for students who attain some type of specialized technical skill, an industry recognized credential or post-secondary training. All of these can be accomplished by attending Career and Technical Education Programs (CTE) around the state. DESE is asking you to not only take the survey, but to share the link on social media with parents. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CTE-DESE
