Wolverine Winter Social

West Orient has traditionally hosted a Winter Social each year for students on the last day before Winter Break during the last period of the school day. This year, we’re going to do the same!

On December 18th during 5th Period, students will be invited to participate in several online activities hosted by their teachers and other staff members. Students can choose from among the many fun activity options available. We hope that by providing this traditional event, we can continue to support the fun and joy of the middle school experience. Students can dress up in red/green, or their favorite school-appropriate holiday attire. It’s time to pull out the Ugly Holiday Sweaters! We’re looking forward to seeing all our students there!

Honor Roll Recognitions

Congratulations to all students who earned honor roll status for quarter one. Honor roll is defined as any student who has earned a 3.5-4.0 grade point average for a specific term. This is an incredible accomplishment during distance learning. Way to go, Wolverines! MISSION POSSIBLE!

Here is a resource that might be helpful in the weeks ahead:

Friday's Urban Gleaners - Food boxes are available. No information required. Food is always free. They will not be open Christmas and New Years, but families can go to this site weekly. 23901 NE Halsey Street., Wood Village, OR 97060. Madera Court Apartments is where the distribution is located.

COMING SOON! Student Social Time

An exciting new opportunity is coming for students! On Wednesdays beginning after the Winter Break, students will have an opportunity to meet with friends, hangout, and have fun in a supervised virtual setting. Staff members will host social times and will provide breakout rooms in which students can gather and socialize. On Wednesday, December 9th, staff members will collect input from students on topics and activities for the social time breakout groups. Ideas include games, book clubs, topical conversation groups, and general conversation.

Students will receive information through their advisory classes in Google Classroom. Once students join the class, they’ll be able to go to that class and get the meeting links to enter the weekly social time on Wednesday. More details regarding signing up for specific groups and clubs will follow after the winter break.

  • 6th Grade: 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM.

  • 7th Grade: 11:30AM - 12 Noon.

  • 8th Grade: 11:00 AM - 11:30 AM.

Let’s make this a fun time to see friends and reconnect!
