PCMS WEEKLY UPDATE
December 3, 2021
Good Afternoon PCMS Families!
Our friends from PCHS spread a little Holiday Cheer this morning with their annual Winter Choir Tour. We enjoyed several performances from their Concert Choir and Sound Express - if you haven’t heard them before, you are missing out! It was great to see so many of our former students performing. However, the icing on the cake was watching our 8th grade choir take the floor and sing a tune with them. And finally, there are only 2 ½ weeks left until the end of the semester so keep working with your kiddos on their grades.
Have a fantastic weekend and GO PIRATES!!
CHECK OUT WHAT WE DID THIS WEEK!!
PCMS DELTA STUDENTS FINISH IN THE TOP 20!
THE CHARACTER STRONG FAMILY DARE
PARENTS OF STUDENTS IN GRADE 6-7
We are conducting a very brief survey of our students and parents concerning world languages to best streamline our world language offerings at middle school and high school. We will be using feedback from students, parents, and staff to guide our future decisions on course offerings. You can access the 3-question survey here. Thank you!!
PARENT PORTAL INFORMATION
We believe that frequent communication on academic progress is critical to student success. You can access your child's grades and view their progress at any time by either logging onto Parent Portal or accessing the Tyler SIS Student 360 app on your mobile device.
Below you will find the link to a useful guide to Parent Portal. Please note that there is a feature that also allows you to receive a report via your email, that shows when students have been absent from a class. Instructions to set this up are on the guide, but here are the steps:
Just like the grade change notifications - after a parent logs in, there should be an icon with your initials in the top right corner of the portal. You can click on that, and then "notification preferences."
For the phone app, to set it is similar - click the three-line menu icon in the top LEFT, then down to Settings, then "notification preferences." This will send an email nightly, which summarizes the student's whole day. We hope you will find this helpful.
PIRATES ROCK CHARACHTER TRAIT - COMPASSION (DECEMBER)
Pirates R.O.C.K. (Raising Outstanding Character Kids) is a program designed to surround our families with examples of strong character traits through school experiences, at home, and reinforced in their community. Each month our community focuses on a specific character trait, and students are recognized for exhibiting these traits: Self Confidence, Pride, Responsibility, Citizenship, Compassion, Individuality, Self Control, Integrity, Perseverance, Respect, Honesty, and Cooperation.
December’s #PiratesRock trait is Compassion: Showing concern through words and actions.
PTO COIN WAR FUNDRAISER
1, 2, 3, 4 we declare a COIN WAR & RAFFLE! That’s right! Help support your PCMS PTO fundraiser by participating in COIN WARS! Bring your loose change and dollar bills to the office between December 6th and December 17th and put them in your grade level-specific jar! The grade level with the most $$’s raise wins a DONUT Party!
As an added bonus, buy a raffle ticket for your chance to throw a pie to your principals and 1 of your teachers in the face! Thank you to these wonderful faculty and staff for volunteering!!
The winning grade level will get 3 people drawn from the raffle to pie that grade level teacher/principals + they get the donuts! Raffle money will be counted towards class $$ totals.
Which grade level will win? Which grade level loves donuts and pieing their teachers in the face the most? We will see! Daily $$ totals will be given during daily announcements as well as being posted on the PCMS PTO Facebook and Instagram pages. So be sure to keep track and keep your grade level in the lead!
