Against All Odds
As the 2019-20 school year comes to a close, we are filled with mixed emotions for our promoting and graduating students: joyous celebration for their honors and achievements, but wistful and bittersweet as we watch them grow and move on to the next chapter in their lives. The end of this year has been challenging, unprecedented, and trying for all.
Despite the hurdles COVID-19 has thrown our way (emergency school closures, distance learning and more) our students have shown their unrelenting determination to press on. In true #PowayUnified fashion, they have come together against all odds and shown what it means to be Stronger Together. This was not the end of the year they deserved. But they took it in stride and made the best of it.
The virtual band performances, District-wide kindness campaigns, community service projects, PPE donations, nationally-recognized honors, virtual class projects, special video messages to students and teachers, and social media encouragement chains: The Class of 2020 is one the world will never forget. Not because of the global circumstances surrounding the end of their school year, but rather their attitude in spite of it all.
We are constantly learning from our students, but we will forever hold this idea in the forefront of our minds: Never doubt that a large group of thoughtful, tenacious, and talented students can change the world.
THANK YOU, Class of 2020, for showing us what that looks like.
