What it costs to pursue a dream
Moral Fortitude
Moral Fortitude
The boy in the song is a 13 year old kid named william who lives in the projects in brooklyn new york, his mom is a hard working lady who wants to make the best of her and her childs life but, william doesent have a father and while his moms at work hes constantly skipping school and after a while gets hooked up with the wrong people and they end up embedding a thug dream in his head so he starts selling weed in the projects and trying to make his way up the ladder, so he moves up to cocaine and eventually the leaders of the drug ring tell him that in order to prove himself he has to rape a woman and kill her. His mom always told him that whatever he did he was to always respect women but this scarface fantasy that was stuck in his brain got the best of him and he went out late at night with the leaders and grabbed a woman and tied her up and started beating her then he took the hood off her head and noticed it was his mom, he was stunned and couldn't move but once he realized what he had did he jumped of the roof of the building and died. This is an example of how moral fortitude is more important than chasing a dream. Through out The Great Gatsby its evident that gatsby gives up his moral fortitude to achieve his dream of being with daisy, He throws parties almost every weekend (fitzgerald 7) and Forgets about what he stands for. He tries to cover up murder to make daisy look innocent (fitgerald 112) Giving up your moral fortitude to achieve a dream is not worth any dream because in most examples it ends in death people think that they can do without their morals and most of the time it comes back to bite them. This is a realistic cost because people are continuosly giving up their morals to achieve their dreams, our world is becoming more and more corrupt with that morals are becoming less and less important.
