A Note From Our Principal, Mrs. Lee
It's hard to believe that we are already into the month of November! Though the weather might be turning a little colder, I truly hope that studies are heating up for our students.
I would like to express my sincerest thanks to everyone in our school community for all you are doing to support our students during this global pandemic. During this challenging time, it has been heart-warming to see everyone’s resilience and commitment to student learning. Course content is progressing and it is imperative for students to keep up with their school work.
Thank you for your patience and continued support. Take care!
Library News
Our Scholastic Book Fair is coming! We look forward to you shopping the book fair during Family Night on December 2.
You can go to the Hairgrove Book Fair homepage to look at an interactive flyer. You can shop online from this link as early as November 19 or come shop in person the week of November 29 in the Hairgrove Library.
Car Riders
Morning Car Riders:
- Our staff members will be outside in the morning to greet your children from 7:40 – 8:00. After 8:00, you will need to sign your child in to school for the day. We use the inside office clock for the official time.
- Please have your child ready to exit the passenger side of the vehicle with all of their belongings gathered and their mask already on when you pull into the parking lot.
- If your child is having difficulty exiting the vehicle, please park and walk them up to the front door.
- Please remember that there is only one lane of traffic in the mornings. It is very important that you adhere to this request for the safety of all students and staff members.
Afternoon Car Riders:
- As a reminder, Texas state law prevents the use of a cell phone when driving in a school zone.
- Please remember to have your car rider tag hanging from your rear view mirror. If the tag is on the dash then it is not easily seen by the staff members and this delays your child getting to your car in a timely manner.
Music Notes
Fourth and Fifth graders: You sound awesome! Plan on making it to all the rehearsals since we only have two more to learn the rest of our music, November 10 and December 1 for our December 2nd program, Jingle Jam. We practice from 3:40 - 5:00p.m.
Anyone still wanting to be in choir can join in January for our next program.
Third graders: You sound fantastic and are ready to perform for our program , America, on Tuesday, November 9 at 8:30a.m. and 6:00 p.m. A separate letter will be in your Thursday folder on October 28 reminding you to be in the gym at 5:45. Please wear blue jeans and a red, white, or blue shirt for the program. You’ll look and sound so patriotic! Invite your family and friends to come and support you.
It's so wonderful to make music with you in our giant new music room. Keep up the fantastic learning!
Ms. Bassi
ART NEWS
Hairgrove Families! Making art isn’t just about sketching or painting, it’s about building strong creative muscles that allow daily creativity to be possible, exciting and fun! Take time this month to try some of the creative starters below to start your journey of building your creative muscles as a family!
- Draw all of the ingredients to your favorite meal individually, then what it looks like when it is prepared.
- Try creating art with something edible (paint with coffee, collage with candy, draw with mustard, etc.).
- Find the closest living thing to you right now (houseplant, family member, pet). Write five sentences about their secret identity.
- Create an advertisement for your favorite family movie or TV show.
- Collage found objects to create different color values in the color wheel.
A Note from Coach Dyson
Parents, we have been busy in the gym with lots of Football workouts and activities along with a game from the Harry Potter books called “Quiddich” with the secondary grades and fun-filled dances and workouts followed by activity stations with the primary grades. So the gym is a very busy and ACTIVE area! Please supply your students with a bottle to fill with water, because there is a water cooler in the gym for them to use. Without it they get really thirsty, and it is really difficult for them to perform their best when they get dehydrated. Thank you for your support!
Another shout out to our Dolphin Benjamin Cooksey for finishing so strong in his golf season, ranking 3rd in his division of US KIDS GOLF of Houston! Way to go Benjamin, keep up the hard work!
