Greetings Staley Parents~
I hope everyone enjoyed the two week vacation! I spent a little time on the beach and struggled to make the transition back to freezing temperatures but I'm happy to be back at school with the students.
It seems early to be saying this, however, over the next few weeks we will be communicating important information regarding the 2018-2019 school year (registration information/course selection, cheer tryout dates, and pertinent information from Memorial and Frisco High School). It may feel like you are juggling two years (8th and 9th grade) at the same time but we will navigate those waters with you.
Starting next week our campus will begin utilizing the School Messenger system to deliver text messages, straight to your mobile phone with important information about events, school closings, safety alerts and more. You may recognize the School Messenger name as the system that currently sends emails and phone calls.
We are currently part of a pilot program for Frisco ISD, therefore we may ask for your feedback later this year.
Many of you have opted into text message service, which has primarily been reserved for emergency communication. If you are uncertain as to whether you have opted in, you may participate in this free service simply by sending a text message of “Y” or “Yes” to our school’s code number, 67587.
You can also opt out of these messages at any time by simply replying to one of our messages with “Stop”.
SchoolMessenger is compliant with the Student Privacy PledgeTM, so you can rest assured that your information is safe and will never be given or sold to anyone.
We hope that you find this additional layer of communication to be convenient and timely.
Have a wonderful weekend~

6th Grade Parents
Aim for Success, Inc., will present their nationally-acclaimed program to the students and parents of Staley Middle School. The upcoming program addresses the problems of teen pregnancies, sexually transmitted diseases, and the emotional impact that is often associated with teen sexual activity. The program will clearly demonstrate to the students that avoiding sexual activity until marriage provides freedom from pregnancies, STDs, and regret while giving them the freedom to fulfill their dreams and goals!
The Parent Program is a preview of the student presentation where parents will learn creative ways to talk about sex with their children and encourage them to avoid sexual activity until marriage. “This is a must see event for anyone concerned about the problems associated with teen sexual activity,” said Marilyn Morris, President of Aim for Success.
Battle of the Books Competition
This is the district-wide reading competition between middle schools in Frisco. The district competition will be March 3rd at Clark.
