Fifthteenth Week of School
This week we received some delicate news about the potential closure of our school due to low enrollment and opertating deficit. It is important to note that no decisions have been made. Cardinal Blase J. Cupich, archbishop of Chicago, will make a decision regarding our potential closure in January 2020. Although this is extremely difficult to hear, please know that the staff and teachers are committed to provide a high quality education, with a supportive and nuturing environment, to the students of SJS. We are here because we value Catholic School education and will continue to do our best for the children regardless of the outcome! Please continue to pray for us as we work through this difficult time.
Parent/teacher conferences went very well. We are blessed to have a loving staff and supportive parents who work together as partners in their child's education. We cannot say thank you enough for your continued support.
We began the season of Advent. Advent is a period of preparation extending over the four Sundays before Christmas. The word Advent comes from the Latin advenio, "to come to," and refers to the coming of Christ. And the term the coming includes three references: first of all, to our celebration of Christ's birth at Christmas; second, to the coming of Christ in our lives through grace and the Sacrament of Holy Communion; and finally, to his second coming at the end of time. We are with excited happiness waiting to celebrate the coming of Christ's birth over the next few weeks.
Peace and joy,
Mrs. Rybarczyk
Lucky to be Principal of SJS
