April 2019
A note from the principal...
On top of the testing, we are starting the 4th card marking period- the finish line is so near, yet the race still needs to be run. Let's remind the students that it is not time to coast, but to buckle down and finish the year strong.

Spanish Students Participate in International Festival
On March 14th a group of Marine City Spanish students shared their knowledge about the country of Costa Rica with the district's elementary students during the Cultural Festival at Gearing Elementary. We chose this country since Marine City students have an opportunity to travel there every other year with Señora Humble.
During the festival, students created "Payaso" costumes (Costa Rican clowns), they cooked "Gallo Pinto" (traditional breakfast dish of Rice and Beans with a spicy Lizano sauce), and they created games for the elementary kids to learn about geography, animals, history and traditions of Costa Rica.
This project was a complete success and the students did an amazing job representing one of many countries on display at the annual festival.
For more information about traveling to Costa Rica, contact Kristen Humble at khumble@ecsd.us.

Business Class Traveled to Disney
2020 Disney Youth Education Trip
If your student will have Mrs. Gardner for a teacher next year (Business Essentials or Financial Management) they are welcome to join her on the 2020 Disney Youth Education Trip. Please click on the link below for all of the details! This will be the 5 year anniversary and it will be fantastic!
There will be no kickoff meeting this year as attendance tends to be low for it. Packets are also available in Room 306.
The cost is approximately $1200 per person depending on airfare. The trip is planned for March 5-9th, 2020. It could change to March 6-10th if air is cheaper for those dates. Parents are also welcome!
The deposit is $100 per person and it’s due on April 8th. Deposits are non refundable. The commitment form must be turned in with the deposit.
Mrs. Gardner likes to keep the trip at about 40 people, so get your deposit in soon to secure your spot. Checks can be made out to MCHS. She is also working on getting a Venmo set up for future payments.
If you have any questions, please email her at lgardner@ecsd.us.

St. Clair County Community Resource Fair
On May 8, 2019, the 12th annual St. Clair County Community Resource Fair will be held at St. Clair County Community College in Port Huron. Taking place from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm, this
day-long event is designed to offer a wide variety of community supports, information, and resources to individuals and families who are struggling financially, homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless. This is not your average “fair” where participants are sent home with little more than pamphlets or business cards; our vendors will be providing actual services on-site! We will have health screenings, food, clothing, and hygiene product give-a-ways. There will be agencies there to assist participants with housing, utilities, employment, education and so much more! The Community Resource Fair is open to everyone and is absolutely free, including lunch!
