Happy Mother's Day to all of our Moms and their Families!
HELLO PONIES - A LITTLE TO SHARE ABOUT MRS. ZAMORA
Hi Pony Family! I am Sandra Zamora. For those of you who have known me for a while know that writing this is quite difficult. I am one of those people who have to warm up to my environment before I poke my head out of my shell and speak. I remember back about 6 months after I started with the district one of the teachers told me, “OMG! I thought you were never going to talk!” So here it goes…
I was born in San Antonio, Texas. I love to read and watch movies, and do crafts, although I haven’t done much crafting lately. My parents and only sister live in San Antonio. I have been happily married for 29 years to my high school sweetheart, Frank. We have three daughters, Kristina, April, and Nicole. We also have four fur babies. Two Mini Schnauzers, Theodore and Abby, and two kittens we rescued last year, Atticus and Piper.
I have been an educator for 19 years. After my husband left the military, we settled back in San Antonio. Shortly after, I began attending classes at San Antonio College and then transferred to University of Texas (UTSA). I began my teaching career as a Kindergarten teacher. That was way back when I was young and had lots of energy. LOL! I have also taught 1st, 3rd, and 5th, technology and now STEM. I began teaching in LISD at Southridge Elementary and transferred to Lewisville Elementary. Becoming part of the LVES family has been one of the best experiences. I have been blessed with love, family, friends and a job I love to do.
Some of my favorite things: trips to Vegas, gummy bears, reading, movies and pandas
A Minute with the LASes...
Please join us for our PTA- Multicultural Night on Thursday, May 18 from 6:00-8:00!
Ponies, we are a melting pot of different cultures and personal stories and we want to honor our heritage. We have a group of 20 students who became authors of a book titled "My Land, My Story" and they will present their work this Thursday. Also, Kinder and First grade students will sing and dance under the direction of our Music teacher, Mr. Thomas. Our K-2 students from Dance Club will be performing, and we will also have the participation of Central Elementary's Folkloric Ballet.
As our students share a glimpse of our cultural richness, we will also need your support! We would love to have a table with artifacts from around the world. If you can, would you share some with us or, even better, would you stay and participate with us that day?

LVES Career Day
We will celebrate our 7th Annual Career Day here at LVES on Friday, May 19th, 2017 !!! Attached you’ll find the invitation letter that you can use to invite your guest speakers (friends, parents, family members, etc). To make sure that all the students have the opportunity to participate, you may combine (or double up) the classes within your team per guest speaker. Speakers are allotted 20 minutes to present during class time, that way our regular schedule (specials, lunch & recess) is not interrupted. Light breakfast will be provided for our special guests.

Thanks so much for your support!. Please send us an e-mail or call us if you have any questions or suggestions.

No Excuses University College Weeks
From May 15th through May 26th, we want to challenge you to have No Excuses University College Weeks. During these two weeks, take some time to research with your students about the university that you represent. Teach students their class year. For example, our 5th graders will be graduating high school Class of 2024 and graduating college class of 2028... Wow!
Think of ways you can make these weeks and your research engaging. Examples:
- Decorate our doors and halls!
- Invite people to speak about their universities!
- Team up with other teachers and surprise your students.
Take a lot of pictures and videos so we can include them in our No Excuses University application!
We want to ask you to create a University "Bilingual" Chant with your grade level.
These chants will be shared during our first No Excuses University Assembly on May 25th before we begin our Move Up Day Experience.
