Tutoring
Free tutoring services are offered each morning, Monday thru Friday, from 7:30 - 8:00 a.m. in the Middle School Library. (In the event that there is a faculty meeting scheduled in the library during that time, tutoring moves to Mrs. Mattingly's room, room 208 in the seventh grade hallway.
Mrs. Donatta Jones supervises the tutoring sessions on Monday and Wednesday mornings. Mrs Deb Stemle supervises on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Members of the SHS National Honor Society are also available to work with the students along with Mrs. Stemle on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Mrs. Beth Stillwell is the supervisor on Fridays.
New this year is a tutoring/mentor program through Indiana University. This program is being implemented after school on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays in the Middle School Library. Mrs. Margaret Fleming supervises this group from 3:15 - 5:00 p.m. If you are interested in the afterschool program, please contact Mrs. Fleming.
Upcoming Band Events
Friday, March 1
Indiana University Symphonic Band will be visiting the Southridge Band! They will be performing a concert for all SMS and SHS Band students followed by a side-by-side rehearsal with the HS Concert Band. This is a unique opportunity that helps bring more music education to our students.
March 11 - 15 Riley Week
Friday, March 15
On the evening of Friday, March 15, the 7th and 8th Grade Band will travel to Tecumseh Jr. Sr. High School for the ISSMA Music Organization Festival.
Saturday, March 16
Band and Choir Mattress Sale in the MS Gym beginning a 10:00 a.m.
There will be a mattress showroom with roughly 30 different brand new, brand name beds set up in the Southridge Middle School gym for you to try out from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In addition to BRAND NEW mattresses with factory warranties, there will also be adjustable power bases, luxury pillows, sheets, protectors, and frames available for people to see and try out. Orders and payment will be taken at the sale, then the products are ordered and available for delivery or local pick-up about two weeks later. NO INTEREST financing will be available.
