Heart 2 Heart
Celebrating 75 Years of Catholic Education in Coronado
Principal's Message
Dear SHPS Parents,
And so we begin our 2nd week of school! Last week was terrific and there were a lot of smiles all around. It was especially nice to see so many new students and parents fitting in so nicely. We are so happy you are with us! In today’s newsletter, we have several brief, but important points to go over with you. They are:
Noon dismissal for TK-1st grade all this week. 2nd and 3rd grades will be let out at 2:30pm and 4th through 8th grades will be let out at 2:45pm. There is no after school at present, nor for the foreseeable future, so please pick up your children no later than 3:30, or you may receive a $100 fee assessment. On Wednesday ½ days for teacher development, the instructional aides will supervise students on the blacktop until 3:00pm if you are unable to pick them up at noon dismissal. This extra supervision applies only to Wednesday ½ days, not Friday ½ days.
An unfortunate reminder that we are not out of the woods yet with Covid-19. It remains extremely important that you report to the administration right away any students or family members that test positive for Covid19 to covid19@sacredheartcoronado.org. This is all confidential information that is critical for us to know so that we can consult our “Decision Tree” and arrive at the correct date for your infected or exposed children to return to campus. Please keep this important email in a safe place, just in case. Sometimes parents report these cases to the classroom teachers and the information does not get to the administration in a timely or accurate manner.
We are looking for volunteers for Room Parents for each classroom. If you are interested, please open this link to respond. It’s a fun and important job!
Help! We also need parent volunteers for the SHPS Yearbook. We are looking for a few parents who will work with Ms. Z and the ASC students to produce our 2021-2021 yearbook. The format and publisher is all in place. We just need help gathering the pictures and choosing events to cover. If you are interested, please contact Ms. Z at jzacarias@sacredheartcoronado.org
On the whole, the traffic for morning drop-off and after school pick-up are going well. Some reminders:
No cuts! Any TKer will tell you that cutting in line is the height of poor manners!
Please make sure you are coming down 7th Ave alongside the school in the cone zone, and turn right on C Ave from there.
Please do not jump this line by coming straight in from C Ave in front of the park, both in the morning AND after school.
Student Birthdays: Parents, you may bring a packaged treat for your children’s class on their birthdays if you wish, as we did last year. Please leave them in the front office before recess for the teachers and aides to distribute. If their birthday falls on a weekend, please coordinate with the teachers to choose the best alternative day to celebrate. Your children are allowed to wear “free dress” on their birthdays!
Ok, that's all for now! If you have any questions or concerns regarding these policies, please do not hesitate to email me at pharris@sacredheartcoronado.org
Peace of Christ,
