Message from Dr. Fay & Mrs. Henson

Crossroads Community,

During the month of February our House System’s character word is compassion. Our House leaders will provide announcements most days of the month to help our students understand what compassion means to them.

What is one way you can show compassion for our staff and students, say encouraging words. Use your voice to let someone know how much you appreciate their efforts and energy. Let your own kiddo know how amazing they are by pointing out all that makes them special to you. Take a moment and send an email or leave a positive voicemail for one of our staff members. Kind words of encouragement really do go a long way!

Just the other day one of our staff members drove across the parking lot to greet me as I was getting into my truck to let me know they really enjoy working with me and appreciate everything I do to help make Crossroads great. Wow! I smiled all the way home and shared the moment with my wife and kids. All thanks to a very simple, kind act that only took a brief moment.

In February we will celebrate Black History Month through multiple classroom activities. Also, don’t forget Valentine's Day is just around the corner. Your child’s teacher will reach out to you about each grade levels’ service projects.

Before we know it, warmer weather will be here! Have a great February!

Science Fair

The 2022 Science Fair was held on January 26. We are very proud of all the students who participated this year. These students took their time to ask a question, form a hypothesis, make a prediction and experiment to see if their prediction was right. This is not an easy task, but they stuck with it and presented their findings. Thank you so much for participating this year. Raptor Security System Information

Part of keeping students and staff safe is knowing who is in our building at all times, so we are rolling out a system to allow us to do just that. Starting January 24, 2022, WSD visitors will check in to our buildings using Raptor, a new visitor management system designed to assist with building security.

What does that mean for you?

  • When you arrive in a WSD building as a visitor, you will be asked to scan your ID, take a photo and complete the management system’s check-in process.

  • Raptor will screen the information against sex offender databases and locally customized lists of banned or potentially threatening individuals, instantly alert school officials to a threatening presence, and maintain a searchable log of all visitors.

  • Once approved, you will get a customized visitor badge to wear while in the building.

Thank you for your support as we roll this out and enhance school safety protocols!

Parents or guardians who are only picking up a child for the day will not need to use the visitor management system.

Arrival and Dismissal - Please Read Carefully

All of our car riders and our daycare van riders will go to the gym at the end of the day. Once in the gym, a staff member will call students’ names over the radio for them to come out to meet their vehicle. A staff member will escort students to each car.

PLEASE READ: We are no longer allowing parents to walk up to get their children. You will need to drive through the pick-up line.

We sent home lime green car tags with all students on their first day of school, 8/24. If you need additional tags, please check in the main office. ***PLEASE USE A THICK MARKER TO FILL THESE OUT***

When you drive through the car lanes, please have the lime green car tag on your dashboard where we can see the names of your students. If you do not have the car tag, we will have to check your ID, radio the office, and wait for them to clear you before we can call your child out. As you can imagine, this will slow down the process for everyone.

A few other things to keep in mind with this process: Please remember, we do not accept dismissal changes after 3:00 pm. Also, our primary focus is student safety and 3:20 is a critical time when children can potentially get lost in the shuffle; it is imperative that we streamline the secretaries’ time to focus only on emergencies that arise. With that in mind, please understand that we will not permit access to the office after 3:20 to check out a student. Please plan accordingly so we aren’t caught in the position to have to tell you no. Also, remember that you are responsible for calling in to change if your walker will become a car rider during the days with inclement weather. We will no longer be sending a text about rainy day dismissals.

Message from Nurse Maddie

Thank you everyone for your efforts in helping to keep our school healthy. With all the changes that have occured this year, I wanted to send a reminder of what the current rules are that we are following.

If someone in the home tests positive for Covid, students are able to come to school, as long as they are not having any symptoms themselves. If they are having any symptoms, even one, the student is to stay home until symptom free for 24 hr without medication. Testing is encouraged. Masks are not required for those students but we do encourage them. As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at

PTA Update!

Hi Corgis!

We had a fantastic turnout at our Nancy’s Pizza Dining Night last month! In fact, we crashed their website and tied up their phones because we had so many orders. Thank you to everyone who supported the event. We hope to see you at Panera on February 10 from 4pm – 8pm for our next dining night.

We were blown away by the results of our Corgi Cares Food Drive last month. We collected over 2000 items to support Operation Backpack! The entire school really showed up but Onore won our house competition and earned 100 house points. Thank you to everyone who donated and an extra thank you to Sarah Kahler for organizing the event!

We have started to plan our Spring Celebration for April. It’s going to be an amazing event to celebrate Crossroads 20th anniversary. If you are interested in helping, please contact us at We want to make this an event to remember.

Are you interested in being more involved with the PTA? Now is the perfect time! We’ve just started the process for electing our officers for the 2022-2023 school year. Information on how to apply will be sent out soon. Elections will be held at our virtual meeting on 3/8. This will be our biggest meeting of the year and a great first meeting to attend. If you aren’t interested in being an officer, we have many committee chair positions available for next year as well. We hope to see you at the meeting! Please email us at with any questions.

Wentzville School District is excited to announce the 6th annual WSD Film Festival. The film festival is a wonderful way for our students to showcase their talent and creativity.

Important Information:

  • Film Festival will be held on April 13, 2022, at 7:00 pm at North Point High School
  • Film Submissions are due on March 28, 2022
  • There is a Teacher Category (follows the same rules as student submissions)

Buying Lunch

  • Students will enter a lunch pin number

Bringing Lunch

  • Label all lunch bags
  • Send items students can open by themselves
  • Anything opened will be thrown away

Recess Information

  • Supervision is provided by our Noon Duty staff and classroom teachers
  • Dress for the weather
  • Label clothing items
  • Avoid parking along the playground
  • Visitors are not allowed at recess

Tips from the office

  • All adults visiting Crossroads must sign in at the office and obtain a visitors sticker
  • Call the office by 9:15 am if your child is absent
  • If your child arrives after 8:35 am, please walk them into the office
  • Let the office know of any dismissal changes before 3:00 pm
  • Students cannot be checked out from the office after 3:20 pm
  • Be sure to update any changes to your contact information in the office

How do I make changes to my contact information and email address?
Parents may make changes through the parent portal for their email, telephone numbers and emergency contacts. Addresses must be changed in person with office personnel.

Can I call and give my email address over the phone?

Email addresses may not be added over the telephone with the office staff.

What if I have forgotten my Parent Portal password?

Please call the office to request your password to be reset. Once the password is reset, you will receive an email with the Parent Portal login information.

Now that the Box Tops program has gone digital, there are opportunities for BONUS Box Tops like never before! If you haven’t already, download the app to your phone to start collecting for Crossroads. Do it today! Using grocery delivery or pick up services? No problem!
