Virtual Parent/Teacher Conferences
Virtual Parent Teacher Conferences -- October 19th & 20th from 3:30 - 7:15 PM
- Parents will receive a link from their child's teacher to sign up for a conference
- Parents will EITHER need (1) to use their child's school issued Chromebook to log into the Meet OR (2) a google account to access the meeting. If you do not have a google account, pease use this link to create a google account
4th & 5th Grade Soccer
Unity Day -- Anti-Bully Event
Curtin students will participate in UNITY DAY to send a visible message that no child should ever experience bullying. Rather, we believe in kindness, acceptance and inclusion.
What: Wear ORANGE to stand up against bullying and participate in a UNITY Walk celebration
When: Wednesday, October 20th, 1:00 - 2:00 PM

Make-Up Picture Day
If your child was absent on picture day, that is not a problem.
Make-up Picture Day is scheduled for Thursday, November 11th.
It is recommended that orders be placed online.

Health and Safety
Mask Up
Students are expected to wear a mask when in the school building and when riding the school bus.
Guidelines for Health and Safety
To ensure the health and safety of all, MPS will continue to follow current CDC and Milwaukee Health Department guidelines.
Masks required by staff and students indoors except while eating or drinking
Masks not required outdoors
Masks required on buses
Plexi barriers on student desks when facing one another
A distance of 3 feet will be maintained in all school settings to the greatest extent possible
School Visitors- visitors with a scheduled visit are welcomed (masks required)
Water fountains/bubblers will be used as water bottle filling stations. Send your child with a water bottle daily.
Student Absence due to Quarantine or Bus Issues
If your child is absent due to quarantine or bus issues, AND, completes their assignments found on google classroom/Seesaw, they WILL be marked PRESENT.
Students also have the opportunity to receive virtual academic support. Ms. Bruno will be available on google meet.

What should I do if my child is sick?
Please call the school office at 414-902-7700 and share the following:
-Name of your child who is ill
-Symptoms your child is experiencing
-Date that your child began feeling their symptoms
Help Reduce the Spread of COVID-19
MPS is now offering COVID-19 School Based Testing for students and staff with COVID symptoms. Testing will help reduce community spread of COVID-19 and ensure that our schools are safe for learning and working. Please consider completing this consent for testing. Students and staff who complete this form and display symptoms of COVID, may be able to be tested at Curtin.

Arrival and Dismissal
School Hours
Office: 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Breakfast 7:20 a.m. (in the classroom)
School starts: 7:20 a.m.
Dismissal: 2:20 p.m.
After School Camp 2:20 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Student Entry Procedures
All students enter from the playground area between 7:15 a.m. and 7:20 a.m.
Late arrivals should use the main entrance on 32nd street beginning at 7:30 a.m.
**Buses students will pull in on Morgan Avenue. Families please do not block in coned areas as it causes a safety hazard to bus students. **
Dismissal Procedures
All students exit onto the playground at 2:20 p.m. using the same doors during arrival.
Students who are not picked up by 2:25 p.m. will be brought to the library. Parents should pick up at the main entrance on 32nd street.
Curtin Camp
At this moment, we do not have any opening for additional camp students. If are interested in being put on a waitlist, please contact Ms. Connie at 414-902-7711
STUDENT ABSENCES
Parent(s)/guardian(s) are expected to notify the school by phone/letter of a student’s absence. Personal illness is a legally excused absence. The building principal may request a medical statement from a physician or other health care provider when student(s) have a history of excessive absences. If your child(ren) is going to be absent, please be sure to call 902-7700. We have a 24 hour automated service.
Please be aware that vacations, going out of town, etc. are only excused if it is in a written notification prior to the absences.
PTO & School Engagement Council
Thank you to the parents who participated in September's School Engagement Council Meetings and Parent Teacher Organziation Meetings.

8th Graders
PARENT PORTAL FOR 8TH GRADE STUDENTS
Parent Portal is a system used by MPS to give parents and guardians access to student information such as busing, immunization records, grades, etc. This system is also used for early admission for high school!

On Wednesday, September 23rd, 2021, our school counselor, Ms. Nisleit, held a virtal information session about High School Early Enrollment for our 8th grade families.
