A Word From Mrs. Wolf
Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year at George Washington Elementary School. We are thrilled to begin another wonderful year. As you know, the end of summer can be bittersweet, but for teachers, it is a time of excitement, new relationships and new opportunities. We hope it will feel that way for your children as well. We had record attendance at our Back to School Night event. It actually made us realize we may need to make some changes next year to accommodate such large crowds and long lines. It is a wonderful problem to have! Thank you for sharing some of your last hours of summer with us. Monday morning will be here before long, so enjoy this weekend as a family. We look forward to warm hugs and smiling faces on Monday.
FYI
- We have an additional staff member to announce: Mr. Alex King has joined us a special educator. We will share Mr. King with Adams Elementary. Welcome, Mr. King.
- We ended the school year with over 1200 Patriot Power cards. Let's see what we can do this year!
- The school opens at 7:30. This is when the first staff members arrive. Please do not leave your child unattended in the front of the school, rather make plans to have your child remain with you until the doors open. If you need before school care (beginning at 6:30), please contact Mrs. Diane ivey, coordinator of SACC at divey@k12k.com
- Remember you must have a carline number displayed on your review mirror during pickup. Please come by the office if you do not have one for this year. The numbers change each year so a new tag will be necessary. Parents are not permitted to park and walk up to reunite with students. Please plan to use the carline.
- All walkers will exist from the playground doors. This prevents having to cross the busy parking lot.
- Parent/Guardian Kindergarten Orientation (adults only) at 9:00 Monday, August 1st. The meeting should last about one hour.
- K staggered enrollment Tuesday-Friday dismissing at 12:00 (LCA K students will dismiss at 12:30 on Friday).
- Thanks to our great PTA for the popcorn and lemonade at Back to School Night.
- Remember to check our school system website for important back to school information such as supplies and bus routes (www.k12k.com)
- GWES has a Twitter account, please follow us @KCS_Washington
- A nurse practitioner is available for appointments at school. Stop by the school nurse for more information.
