Mustang Memo
April 26 , 2020
Dear God,
But we are grateful that no matter how alone we may feel, You never leave or forsake us. And, we're grateful for the technology that helps us stay in touch with each other.
Today, please remind us that this time of social distancing and isolation will not last forever.
Give us the strength to endure this difficult season, and deepen our connection with You and Your people.
Empower us with an extra dose of Your love, peace, hope and joy, because we need it. Remind us of Your promises, and please heal our land.
In Jesus' Name, Amen

From the Principal
Good afternoon,
I hope everyone enjoyed this beautiful day we were blessed with today. It makes staying at home so much easier when we can get outdoors. With the closing of schools for the remainder of the year, Governor Pritzker gave schools 5 additional days to use for staff/professional development. Montini will be using one of these days this coming Friday, May 1st. Many of our staff members will be joining many educators across the country in a virtual professional development session with the Ron Clark Academy. Students will not be given any new work, although this day can be used for completing late work or as a wireless day.
Please join us Tuesday at 9am as we celebrate mass with Father David. Mass will be streamed via Montini and Saint Mary Facebook page and the link will be added to SchoolSpeak as soon as it begins.
As we continue to stay safe at home if your family is in need of anything please do not hesitate to reach out to me and I will help to find the resources your family needs.
Pledge Help
Students need a United States flag and should be dressed in a Montini Spirit wear shirt and appropriate bottoms. Families with multiple students may record together.
Counseling Services
Create a feelings check in; it is important that children identify feelings without judgement. Be available for your child emotionally. Talk through it, without trying to fix; reinforce that they are safe and loved.
Use calming techniques such as: belly breathing, movement, art, or even start a family journal- have the children draw or write, parent draws or writes then talk about the article/drawing. Let the child talk about their feelings without trying to fix or correct them. Help child identify where their feelings are settling in their body, this will help with awareness.
Think of things a child can control, self-care: hygiene, regular sleep time, warm bath, doing schoolwork, eat healthy, pick out a book to read, decorate windows with hearts and explain to child that this is our way of helping. Plant flowers.
Children will let us know how much they can handle. Adults need to be aware of their Emotional Regulation. We don’t want to get entangled with our children’s emotions. Adults need to practice what helps them emotionally regulate.
These are uncharted waters, love, compassion and understanding go a long way. Move the body through exercise, dance, stretching, hopscotch, jump rope, walks. We need to move the emotional energy through the body with movement.
Conduct online meetings with family and friends.
Also, Amita Health is offering webinars that can be found on the McHenry County Mental Health Board website.
Let me know how I can help.
Be well,
