OLVCS Updates
November 11th, 2022
Dear OLV Parents and Friends,
Happy Veteran’s Day!
Thank you to the many Veterans who visited our building this week: Robert Daley, Ed Hughes, Barbara Materna, Russ Relkin, and our own Terry Stec! We appreciate the service of all of our veteran parents, grandparents, siblings, and community members as well as our active service members. May God bless and protect you all.
On a less serious note, this week our students participated in an important political process by naming Rocky the Bulldog. Just to provide a little background, OLV used to have a middle school football team and the “Big Dog of the Game” was awarded to players, sometimes the whole team, for outstanding play. The award was the wood-carving of a bulldog. Somehow this carving made its way to St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy, where it was discovered and given to Terry Stec to return to OLV. Now he is not the prettiest dog (Rocky, not Terry) but he has grown on us, so we decided to use Election Day as an opportunity to get our students involved in naming him. He’s not our new mascot, just to make that clear. We will not be updating the Spirit Wear.
Please check out some of the important events coming up at our school, and please keep spreading the word about our school to your friends and neighbors. We are so grateful for your constant support.
Have a wonderful weekend!
God bless,
Jim Hoy

Thanksgiving Adopt A Family
Each year the St. Vincent de Paul Society reaches out to our OLVCS Preschool Program to “adopt” families for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. For Thanksgiving, we are working with SVdP to provide a few local families with non-perishable food and other items. A list of requested items has been sent home with your preschool student this week. If your family chooses to participate, please send in any of the items on the list during the week of 11/14-11/18/22.
Thank you in advance for any type of donation you can provide!
