Frienship Lessons

During the month of February, we are discussing friendship and we will be celebrating with Friendship Parties on February 14th. Reading books and discussing the characters is a great way to discuss friednship. For instance, the Frog and Toad series by Arnold Lobel. Reading these books together gives an opportunity to talk about Frog and Toad’s relationship and the characteristics of a good friend (helpful, thoughtful, supportive, generous, good listener, etc). Students also love reading the Elephant and Piggie series by Mo Willems. Many books show how friends can be very different from one another and still get along. They emphasize the importance of being kind, sharing, and working together to solve problems.

ALP Showcase

Hanawalt has a great representation at the ALP Showcase Tuesday night. Students were able to pursue a topic of their choice and create a project to "show off". It was wonderful to see their projects and enthusiasm.

Parent Teacher Conferences

We will be hosting conferences on Wednesday, February 15th and Thursday, February 23rd from 3:00 - 6:30 pm. Conferences can either be held in person or over the phone.

A Day in the Arts - Artists Needed!

A Day in the Arts (ADITA) is a Hanawalt tradition returning to our pre-COVID one-day format! We will spend an entire day of school at Hanawalt focused on the Arts and how they teach us teamwork, creativity, problem-solving, self-expression, confidence, and appreciation of other cultures. Currently, we are looking for any parents who are involved in the Arts and would be interested in teaching a workshop. If you have interest or questions about this request, please reach out to the ADITA Parent Lead, Laura at lcamerona@hotmail.com.

Each student will get to experience 3 artist workshops in the morning that day and a performance in the afternoon. When we get closer to the date, we will be looking for parent volunteers to be extra hands during the workshops. If you are interested, put it on your calendar and keep your eye out for more information in a month or two.

And start collecting your coins! We will be raising money for ADITA by collecting your spare change in February.
