Georgetown Titans Hockey
"Play Like A Champion Today"
Hockey Camp June 18-24, 2016
As most of you know, "Play Like A Champion Today" is a unique program that provides coaches, parents and players with an enriched teaching method to enhance the hockey experience with a focus on fun. The goal is to help all players become "Champions in Life" through the spiritual experience of positive team dynamics. A big part of this is reinforcing the parent-coach partnership throughout the season, helping the athlete to develop over the long-term.
In June 2016, Titans players will be taking part in a summer program held at the University of Notre Dame and Ancilla College. Both campuses are loaded with resources to maximize the fun and the professionals who run the camps coordinate their efforts to ensure ample time for team building, fellowship and reflection. Plus, the players take part in one of the best hockey camps they may ever experience!
Coach Meaux is proud of this partnership with Notre Dame and grateful for their work to deliver this opportunity to kids in the Georgetown Titans program. Below are some of the details we will write again when plans are final. Please reach out to your team managers with any questions.
Ancilla College (June 18-19 & 23-24)
"Play Like a Champion" houses visiting teams on the campus of Ancilla College (https://www.ancilla.edu/) for the team building portions of their program. These stays bookend the hockey experience. Upon arrival Saturday, players take part in planned team building exercises. On Sunday morning the group attends mass before moving into dorms at Notre Dame. At the end of the week, teams return to Ancilla to reflect on their experience and participate in leadership activities. The morning before we leave, university administrators will talk about secondary education and the importance of education to achieving life goals.
This time at Ancilla College allows players to interact off the ice, an element that is often lacking in organized sports. It also allows us to coordinate Titan's travel to match up with set start and end times of Notre Dame's hockey camp. The two nights on Ancilla's campus are mandatory for all players attending the camp.
University of Notre Dame (June 19-23)
The hockey camp runs from Sunday through Thursday and the players will basically "eat, sleep, and drink hockey" at the Compton Arena. They will be assigned to on-campus dorms and will take all of their meals on the campus and no doubt they will return to you will dirty laundry (like any other college student!) Notre Dame's hockey staff will be running the show but Titans coaches and managers will be present, supervising players and participating in all activities.

Registration & Fees
Like most things hockey, this camp is not free. Titans families will be asked to pay approximately $1000 per player, all-in. Please keep in mind that this includes 4 nights / 5 days meals and lodging at University of Notre Dame ($750) plus another 2 nights meals and lodging at Ancilla College ($200) plus transportation throughout.
Details on registration and payment will follow in the next few weeks. Remember, everything you pay goes directly to your child, as Coach Meaux is working separately to arrange needs-based funding for players that qualify.
Keep in mind that throughout this program, Titans players are being exposed to life on a college campus. Given that most of our players are middle-school aged, this could be a very formative experience. Instilling in young people a vision for what they want to achieve - in hockey and in life - and showing them one path towards achieving it could be a timely and lasting lesson.
