Triton Times
Eastlake Middle School 10.29.18
It has been a tremendous two weeks. There is always somethings awesome happening at ELM. From playoffs to Dia de Los Muertos, our students and staff shine! As always, thanks for sending us awesome students. Please let me know if you have any questions, concerns and/or comments about the following items:
A. Grades! Our grades are coming up this Friday and you should receive the progress report next Monday.
B. Disneyland Trip Postponed. It is with great regret that we have to announce the postponement of this event. We are exploring options to ensure a future opportunity exists for our students. If you have questions, please contact the ASB. If you purchased tickets, you should be receiving a refund shortly.
C. Parent Handbook. In case you have not seen this handbook, I am reminding you that it is on our website. Or you can click on this LINK. We should have the Spanish version up shortly. Students will be asked to sign an acknowledgement of the expectations this week. We had our meeting last Friday where we reviewed our expectations in a positive manner. I know our kids want to do the right thing!
D. Library and Tutoring. We are going to continue keeping our library open Monday through Thursday from 3:20 to 4:20. Tutoring will be provided on Wednesday and Thursday. We will also announce morning library times shortly. Please note that on November 6th, the library will be closed for voting.
E. Halloween. While we encourage students to dress up, we are also asking that they be mindful of the dress code. We have reviewed these expectations with the students.
F. Recognition. If you have a moment, please recognize our awesome teachers with the link below.
G. Compact for Success Field Trip. For those of you who signed up, we will see you at SDSU tomorrow (10/27) for a tour of SDSU and how to make college an option for your student!
H. Free and Reduced Lunch. If you think you might qualify for assistance, please make sure consider filling out an application. We encourage you to consider it. Here is the LINK from the district regarding qualifications.
We are lucky to have amazing parents and guardians at ELM. Keep shining and let us know what we can do to support your student.

Triton Trait of the Month (Self-control)
For the month of October, we will be focusing on Self-control. With Halloween just around the corner, we know the impact of self-control (try making kids eat only one piece of candy!). As we know in working with young individuals, self-control can be one of the hardest traits for a student to master. Let's explore the impact of self-control on students' ability to influence their own future during this month. We know that students who can defer instant gratification will be better off in the long run in many different areas of their lives. Our definition of self-control will be the ability to exercise restraint in light of impulses, desires and emotions.
We will be reviewing the following 8 minute YouTube video with your child's TSP to introduce the Triton Trait of having Self-control.
