Kimball Hill

Week of 4/24/23

Message from the Principal

Dear Kimball Hill Families,

Thank you to everyone that participated in our spirit days! Students and staff had a great time celebrating our hometown teams - the Bears, Cubs and Sox! We were honored to have some special guests from the Chicago Bears organization stop by on Tuesday to make our day extra special!

The end of the school year is a time to celebrate our students’ accomplishments and send everyone off for summer on a positive note. To that end, in the past we participated in the ABC Countdown to close out the school year. We want to continue this tradition but with some changes. Based on feedback from staff and families, we will continue to incorporate spirit days, but they will now be known as “COUGARS” Days. This will take place from Wednesday, May 24th until Thursday, June 1st. June 2nd, our last day of school, will be open for students to wear a special, school-appropriate end of the year outfit if they wish. Stay tuned for details on these upcoming special days.

Our monthly focus for May will be on Community. We will focus on the following as a school. Please feel free to discuss these topics with your child.

  1. Positive friendship skills

  2. Empathy/ seeing different perspectives & respecting them

  3. How to stay connected over the summer/breaks

We appreciate your partnership and continued support! Please feel free to contact me with questions, concerns and/or feedback.

Warmly,

Michelle LaCamera

KH Lending Library

The Little Free Library is back in front of Kimball Hill. FIrst grade teacher Mrs. Hernandez, her sons Ian and Elias, along with their Uncle Jon Smithson, designed and built the library. Mrs. Franke's sister, Karin Brooks added some beautiful art to the library. The philosophy of the Little Free Library is to "take a book-share a book". The KH Little Free Library belongs to the entire community. Please take time to take a book, share a book and add a book! We hope that our library brings a little more joy, a little more connection and a whole lot more books to our community.

PTA News

Our next and last meeting will be at the KH library on May 11th at 6:30pm. At that meeting, we will nominate and vote for our open board positions. Please contact the PTA for more information at khpta1@gmail.com

Registration 2023-24 IMPORTANT FOR ALL STUDENTS

Online registration through Infinite Campus is OPEN. EVERY student; new and returning, must register each year. It is extremely important that all families register as soon as possible and do not wait until the summer. Our staffing needs are determined by the number of students registered each year. Waiting to register right before school begins can cause changes to classes, changes in staffing and the need to re-section classes in order to balance classes. We kindly ask you to register as soon as possible. Thank you for your support!

Did You Know?

Illinois law states: "A person, regardless of age, may not use a wireless telephone at any time while operating a motor vehicle on a roadway in a school speed zone"

For the safety of all of our students, please refrain from using your cell phone during arrival and dismissal.
