Info on the Ocean

The largest of all the ecosystems, oceans are very large bodies of water that cover the Earth's surface. Like ponds and lakes, the ocean regions are separated into separate zones: intertidal, pelagic, abyssal, and benthic. All four zones have a lot of different species. Some say that the ocean contains the richest diversity of species even though it contains fewer species than there are on land.

The intertidal zone is where the ocean meets the land — sometimes it is submerged and at other times exposed, as waves and tides come in and out. Because of this, the communities are constantly changing. On rocky coasts, the zone is stratified vertically. Where only the highest tides reach, there are only a few species of algae and mollusks. In those areas usually submerged during high tide, there is a more diverse array of algae and small animals, such as herbivorous snails, crabs, sea stars, and small fishes. At the bottom of the intertidal zone, which is only exposed during the lowest tides, many invertebrates, fishes, and seaweed can be found. The intertidal zone on sandier shores is not as stratified as in the rocky areas. Waves keep mud and sand constantly moving, thus very few algae and plants can establish themselves — the fauna include worms, clams, predatory crustaceans, crabs, and shorebirds.

There are two main types of plants found in the ocean, the ones that have roots that are attached to the bottom of the ocean and those not having roots which simply drift about with the water. The rooted plants in the ocean are only found in shallow water because there is not enough sunlight to sustain photosynthesis in deeper waters. Since sunlight does not travel more than a few hundred feet into the ocean, most of the ocean is not capable of supporting rooted plants, anyway plants are found throughout most of the Oceans waters.

Animal Life

The ocean has a large variety of animals. In our particular aspect the Caribbean, the size of the animals varies too, there are large beasts such as Sharks and microscopic organism like the Plankton. The ocean has one of the largest diversities in species and classifications. it is home to many animals and most , have vertebrae but some such as sponges corals or jelly fish don't have a vertebrae thus they are in-vertebrae. Ocean animals live in many different places and habitats some live in caves some are camouflaged into the ground and some live and sleep in open water, but most live near the bottom.

A basic list of animals in the ocean are:

Bony Fish

Blue Crab

Green Crab

Horseshoe Crab

Bottlenose Dolphins

Sea Turtle

Urchin (Sea)

Baleen Whales

Blue Whales

Humpback Whales

Planet Earth Shark Jump
Killer Whale vs. Sea Lions

Ocean Climate

The average temperature of a typical ocean is about forty degrees Celsius, the warmest area is usually nearer the serface the ocean is typically a wet place it also has had up to twenty nine inches of rain on average. There is also a large variety of natural disasters such as volcanos, earthquakes, hurricanes usually are created the ocean. The ocean is also affected by human disaster like oil spills and pollution that can affect not only the water but the animals, plants ,and the climate. The Ocean's temperature varies during the year but since it is so large it is hard to keep track of every region at once, so basically one of the main factors is the changing temperature, although there is is also things like as hurricane seasons that affect parts of the Ocean seasonally.

Ocean geography

There are five oceans on the Earth, they are the Arctic, Southern, Indian, Atlantic and Pacific. The five oceans are connected and really just one huge body of water, dubbed the global ocean or just the ocean. The three main materials of the sediment on the bottom of the ocean, they are; terrigenous, pelagic, authigenic. Erosion, weathering and volcanic activity on land flows out to the ocean and creates the sand, mud, and rock particles that make up terrigenous deposits. Terrigenous deposits are very close to the land if not touching it. Pelagic deposits come from red clays, and the skeletal remains of organisms that have died and sunk to the ocean floor. Authigenic deposits are made up of particles and include montmorillonite and phillipsite, and can be found in places where the sedimentation process goes on very slowly.
The purple-blue stuff is terrigenous, the green-yellow is pelagic, and the red stuff is authigenic.

Double N Cruises and water vacations

Song time

where am I gonna go today, under the ocean that’s my way,

swimmin with the fishies anyday, saving the whales that’s the pay,

freedom swimming machine, big snorkels in hand,

why did I have to eat that sushi, imma vomit on you man,

because you have to wait thirty minutes after you ate

hurling in the bathroom, in the water, in the buffet line,

swimming up to the resturant, to get a bite to eat

what a swimmers got to eat

where am I gonna go today, under the ocean that’s my way,

swimmin with the fishies anyday, saving the whales that’s the pay,

Up the force of the current, feel the bite of shark teeth,

Bread and butter taste good, where you find the buffet,

Swimming I lead, with the fish I got beef,

I dig my funny looking swim suit, I don’t wear briefs,

you can't swim up to me, and my gang,

sharks, barracuda's, spear in the chain,

swimming faster than fish, like buz lightyear my son,

I'll vomit on you before this gets done.

where am I gonna go today, under the ocean that’s my way,

swimmin with the fishies anyday, saving the whales that’s the pay,
