MIKALA: WRITER EXTRAORDINAIRE
SUBTLE CHANGES TO THE WRITING STYLES OF MIK
SO far: A life unfolding on canvas.
For the most part, I live in 24/7 technicolor. Moving about my world in extra-ordinary ways, marking and remember people, places events, to later write about and incorporate in my ever changing and blossoming imagination. Through-out this semester I have made new experiences and learned things I never thought! I would ever be able to relish 5 years ago. SO: Here is my new adventure. I have opened doors to new...everythings! And this is how I have grown as a writer and as a storyteller.
SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL!
JOJO...THE MAYOR'S SON!
This fall I had great fun playing "Jojo" in Seussical the Musical! Jojo is a boy from Who who eventually saves the day with his great "YOPP!!!" But first HORTON THE ELEPHANT (A giant elephant from the JUNGLE OF NOOL) must convince all the other Jungle Creatures that the Whos ARE real, because after all "A person's a person, no matter how small!"
The experience showed me a lot about who I was as a person, and that thinking and living like a child is one of the most esteemed ways to live.
INSPIRATION
The hardest part sometimes about just sitting down and writing, at least for me, is finding what to write about. On occasion I actually sit with the intention to write about something in particular, but usually wait awhile for inspiration. It usually takes a little bit of time for me to have a fully-formed and developed idea. When I can fully figure out the loop-holes to my ideas: That's! when I know I've got something good.
IMAGINATION
Something I have been building on for years! Since my adolescent days, always have I been dreaming up scenarios and characters from the ordinary life I go about living. I try my best to live in the present, while also adding in many styles and formulas familiar to decades before I was born. Imagination, and laughter, I believe are the basis for all writers lives. Without it, the stories would be boring and bland with nothing the breath.
CREATION
"IT LIVES!!!" And by it living, I mean the words. I am a musician. There's no secret about that. And my favorite part of what makes music so special is adding words to the feelings of the chords. There is already enough emotional supply, need I say more?
Well, I will. With music comes a staple to my life: Something I always carry with me is a never-ending beat. And to add on-top of my tempo of life...beautiful...beautiful words! What a feeling that is! To have learned how to write poetry...to melodically phrase a memoir or personal narrative into something much more that what sits on paper. That is what I live for.
MY LEARNING EXPERIENCE IN CREATIVE WRITING
I can't begin to describe the things I have learned in this class. From swinging words together in beautiful harmony, to writing love poems for only myself to hear, to learning about new authors! Opportunities! BLOGS AND BOOKS GALORE! My writing and my flow of thought has forever been changed by the countless articles, videos, advice columns, and actual writing critiques I have read through and thoroughly enjoyed. I will now write with certain aspects of these in mind. Every time my pen touches paper, it does so with purpose, with reason, and is justified by my works of art and song.
MY MUSIC-WHO I AM.
MY BAND, MY PERSONAL LIFE, AND HOW WRITING IN MY BAND IS ULTRA COOL!
So, ya know how they say every subject carries on into the other? Well, it's totally true. For me-It works like this. I'm in a band, a band makes music, so we WRITE. This class helped me express myself not only in dead-line type assignments, but outside of school work. Writing is essential in my life, I need it constantly to work and function not only as a writer, but as a musician in all my works!!!
