What is a Surgeon you may ask? Well a surgeon is a medical practitioner qualified to practice surgery. Surgeons diagnose and treat injuries or illnesses. Physicians examine patients; take medical histories; prescribe medications; and order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests. They operate on patients to treat injuries, such as broken bones; diseases, such as cancerous tumors; and deformities, such as cleft palates. This is a very interesting job because you get to help people and learn about how the human body works at the same time.

It is critical that you are a very focused and determined person so you don't make any mistakes. You should have extreme dexterity and great hand-eye coordination. You should be interested in helping people and how the insides of someone's body works.

The beginning salary is from $248,000 to about $320,000. These salaries depend mainly on which field you go into. The job outlook is subject to grow about 15% in the coming 5-10 years. This is very good because by the time you are done with your education, you will have a plentiful amount of jobs available. This is because surgeons fix many injuries and disorders which are abundantly present throughout the world.

To become a surgeon, you first have to get some certifications and get higher education. You need to have an undergraduate's degree, attend 4 years of medical school, a three year residency and finally an internship. You also need a state licensure, this varies in all states, and is needed to get certifications. Some certifications that you can get are general, vascular, pediatric surgery and surgical critical care. Some popular degrees that you can get are in surgical technology and in Allied health.
Work atmosphere and Workload
If you are planning to become a surgeon, you would most likely work four and a half to five days a week on a regular basis, plus any time being on-call for emergencies or urgent situations. This is a job that in witch you have to work more than 40 hours per week. Most surgeons work 50-60 hours weekly this is including every one of his/her duties. Usually you will have about 3 days blocked off for surgery and 2 days devoted to office hours for follow-up appointments or pre-operative consultations.The average surgeries you will perform in is about 300-400 surgeries annually.In addition to all your work you must also spend time on administrative matters such as dictating progress notes for patient records. Even though most surgeons are hired by hospitals, most also have personal businesses. The work atmosphere for surgeons is tense because they have an intense amount of workload.

A long-term goal can be earning an amount of money and a mid-term goal can be paying off some amount of their loan in a reasonable amount of time.
