Why is Malala important?
Malala is important because as a child, she spoke out for girls' education, which resulted in the Taliban using a death threat against her. On October 9, 2012, the Taliban shot Malala when she was traveling home from school. She survived, and has continued to speak out on the importance of education. She was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize in 2013, and again in 2014. She also has written a book called I am Malala.

How have democratic rights been enhanced?
Malala has enhanced democratic rights because she has shown the Taliban that they are weaker than her and she has also given other children a better chance to having an education so the children are now have the right to an education.
